Gabrielle Union steps out in sparkling fuchsia pantsuit at The Black Design Collective 1st Scholarship Tribute

Just days after her husband Dwayne Wade's final NBA game, Gabrielle Union stepped out solo at The Black Design Collective 1st Scholarship Tribute.

The event, held at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Los Angeles on Saturday night, honored costume designer Ruth E. Carter, who became the first person of color to win the Oscar for Best Costume Design, for her work on Marvel's Black Panther.

Union had a personal connection to Carter, who worked on the actress' hit show Being Mary Jane, before moving on to work on Ava DuVernay's Selma.

She wore high-water fuchsia pants with hot pink heels as she stepped out on the red carpet for the event.

The L.A.'s Finest star was seen in a different fuchsia pantsuit in late March, at her husband Dwayne Wade's basketball game at Madison Square Garden.

Union also spoke at the event about Carter, who she praised for making actresses feel so comfortable.

'Those fittings in your home, where you welcomed us in, you took care of us, you empowered us, you protected us,' Union began.

'Ruth is in very high demand, so she set the look on Mary Jane, and she went to go do Selma, she empowered the next black woman,' Union added.

'She set a tone, and when that black woman was empowered, and left to do another job, she empowered the next black woman,' Union added.

'Every year on our show, we have made sure to empower and protect black creatives, and it started with Ruth E. Carter,' Union said.

Union also posed on the red carpet with Carter, along with Loretta Devine, Maxine Waters and Beverly Jonson.
