Gwendoline Christie reveals her Game of Thrones role squeezed 'every last drop of juice' out of her

She stars as Brienne of Tarth in the HBO favourite Game of Thrones - which is set to air its eighth and final series on Sunday.

And Gwendoline Christie has revealed the role squeezed 'every last drop of juice' out of her as she confessed she 'feels emotional' about the end of the show.

Speaking to the Guardian, she said: 'It was just a lot, a lot, a lot. It was a lot.

Her impassioned interview comes in the midst of the promo trail for the show - which has seen all the stars weighing in on their time.

She went on: 'They squeezed the orange. Every last drop of juice out of that orange! And just a husk was left behind. That character has changed my life. I feel emotional. I feel emoji. Tears straight down, and the scream.' 

The actress, 40, also revealed she was 'surprised' when people liked her character - who is the only surviving child of Lord Selwyn Tarth, Lord of Evenfall Hall.

She said: 'No one was more surprised than me that people liked my character. I just assumed that, because she wasn't a conventionally attractive woman, people wouldn't get behind her.' 

Her confession comes after her co-star Kit Harington - who stars as Jon Snow in the series - revealed he became emotional when a fan asked him if he was Jon Snow and it dawned on him he no longer was.

Speaking on The Graham Norton Show, the star confessed he was moved to tears.

He said: 'I was determined to be cool about the end and decided that when people came up to me and said, ''Are you Jon Snow?'' that I would say very calmly, ''I used to be.''

'When I left the set for the final time I was very emotional, and when a girl came up to me and asked the inevitable question, I broke down and cried, ''I used to be!'' She backed off pretty quickly!'

He also admitted during the chat that he has found it incredibly difficult to keep schtum about the ending to the addictive HBO hit.
