National WIC Association: National Recruitment and Retention Campaign
The National WIC Association (NWA) is partnering with approximately 62 Indian Tribal Organizations and states, including North Carolina, to support the implementation of a National Recruitment and Retention Campaign. NWA worked with marketing experts to conduct formative research with WIC families from several states. Based on these findings, a new national WIC brand identity has been developed and shared, with supporting visuals and messaging.
This campaign is a multi-platform effort designed to:
- Recruit new WIC participants,
- Retain current participants,
- Improve the perception of the WIC program, and
- Create national brand recognition.

NWA Outreach and Retention Survey Highlights Webinar
The National WIC Association (NWA) hosted the NWA Outreach and Retention Survey Highlights webinar on 2/21/19. This webinar will provide an overview of the findings from NWA's 2017 Outreach and Retention Survey report. The Outreach and Retention Survey report describes the outreach and retention activities used by local and state agencies across the country, which activities are most and least popular, and innovative activities that could be replicated in other agencies. Although the report does not describe the effectiveness of various activities, NWA hopes that it will provide our members with new outreach and retention ideas to try out.

Building Caseload Through Strategic Outreach: Using Data, Leveraging Staff and Finding Partnerships
Local agencies should use available data to plan, implement, and evaluate outreach strategies to build caseload. A strategic plan can improve efficiency, effectiveness, build buy-in among staff to conduct outreach activities, and result in both strengthened community partnerships and improved caseload. This webinar will explore various direct (i.e., to eligible individuals) and in-direct (i.e., establishing relationships with medical providers) strategies for conducting outreach and guide participants on how to develop a plan within their own local agencies.
