Prince Harry makes unannounced appearance at London marathon

The Duke of Sussex was pictured on the finish line of the London Marathon on Sunday (main) as he made a surprise appearance at the event to cheer on competitors including Sir Mo Farah. Farah failed his bid to win a first London Marathon as he came fifth with a time of 2:05:38 behind Kenyan winner Eliud Kipchoge who finished in 2:02:36. Britain's four-time Olympic champion, wearing a 'Sir Mo' bib, fell back from the leading pack to fifth position as the leaders streaked into the distance at the halfway point. Farah's preparations have been marred by an extraordinary row with former distance star Haile Gebrselassie over an alleged robbery in the hotel owned by the retired Ethiopian. Once in Syria, he is thought to have become a member of a Western cell within IS called 'the Legion', which included among its members Mohamed Emwazi, also known as Jihadi John. Security services are now scrambling to find out any associates or signs of extremist activity during Mohamed's time in Britain which could have encouraged him onto a journey of terrorism. Meanwhile, experts fear the West could see more deadly 'spectaculars' as Isis switches tactics. Judging by his spectacular photographs of African wildlife, the Duke of Sussex is something of a natural behind the lens. Anyone glancing at them quickly could be left with the impression that capturing images of these mighty creatures at such close quarters would have required a thrilling - possibly life-endangering - pursuit across the bush. But the reality is that all three animals had been stunned by a tranquilliser before the prince clicked the shutter. The elephant in Malawi had also been tethered - but because of the way the picture was edited, Harry's Instagram followers were unable to see the rope around its hind legs.
