Chris Hemsworth reminisces about Avengers handprint ceremony by comparing it to fond childhood memory: 'Honoured to share this moment'

After his blockbuster Avengers: Endgame shattered box office records this weekend, one of the original Avengers, Chris Hemsworth, reminisced on his recent handprint ceremony. 

The 35 year old actor took to Twitter and Instagram on Sunday afternoon, reminiscing on about the ceremony that took place on Tuesday.

Hemsworth's hand and footprints were immortalized at the TCL Chinese Theater along with the other original Avengers, Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Jeremy Renner (Black Widow) and Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), along with producer Kevin Feige.

'I remember many years ago carving my name into wet concrete on the sidewalk outside my grandmas place,' Hemsworth began.

'Little did I know that years on those skills would come in handy! Honoured to share this moment with my Avenging mates on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame,' he said.

The actor has plenty to celebrated this weekend, after his film Avengers: Endgame opened with a domestic and worldwide tally that will be hard to beat in the future.

Avengers: Endgame earned an estimated $350 million during its opening weekend at the box office, easily shattering the previous record of $257.6 million set last year by Avengers: Infinity War.

It also set a record for the fastest to $1 billion worldwide, achieving that milestone in just five days, with its current global tally at $1.2 billion.

It has also set records for biggest opening day and single day gross ($156.7 million), theater average ($75,075), international opening weekend ($859 million) and more.

With this massive opening weekend in the books, Avengers: Endgame has a legitimate shot at becoming the highest-grossing film of all time, at both the domestic and worldwide box office.

The domestic record was set in 2015 by Star Wars: The Force Awakens, with $936.6 million, but the worldwide record was set in 2009 by Avatar, with $2.787 billion.

With a record-breaking showing in its opening weekend, it's certainly possible that those records could fall by the time Avengers: Endgame has finished its theatrical run.

Hemsworth is also starring in another one of this year's most highly-anticipated movies, Sony's Men In Black: International, reuniting with his Thor: Ragnarok and Avengers: Endgame star Tessa Thompson.

Men In Black: International also stars Emma Thompson, Liam Neeson, Kumail Nanjiani and Rebecca Ferguson, hits theaters June 14.

Hemsworth also stars in the upcoming Dhaka, with David Harbour, director Kevin Smith's Jay and Silent Bob Reboot and the upcoming Hulk Hogan biopic.
