The video has beaten Ariana Grande's infamous Thank U, Next video's clicks, which accumulated 55.4 million views in the same period.

The catchy track, which features Panic! At The Disco's Brendon Urie, swiftly rose to 57 million after the 24th hour and is now sitting pretty at 72 million views.

The visual extravaganza has gained four million views per hour and is currently top of the iTunes charts, according to Fortune.

However despite the incredible statistics, Taylor's video didn't beat the current world record holder South Korean boyband BTS and their single Boy With Luv.

Taylor last wowed fans with her 2017 Reputation album, which was widely recognised as the best selling album of the year after selling 1.05million copies.

Big Machine Records launched the Reputation album, however Taylor moved to Universal Music Group in November ahead of her new album release.

Taylor loves to put hidden messages in her music videos, known as Easter Eggs, and she  was at it again with the release of her new music video, Me, on Friday, which features a snake, a proposal and a new kitten.

A snake, a proposal and a new member of the family: Taylor told her fans she would be putting lots of hidden messages in her Me video, called 'Easter eggs' and she didn't disappoint

The fans went wild with their conspiracy theories as soon as the incredibly colourful video was released and took to Twitter to note the things they had spotted.

There was the return of the snake - the famous symbol from Taylor's Reputation era, which is a reference to her feud with Kim Kardashian and Kanye West.

Kim famously called Taylor a snake on social media after this and the pop star took the symbol and used it herself for her Reputation album.

However the singer suggests that she has moved from the rift which was largely focused around Taylor's reaction to Kanye rapping about her in his song, Famous.

In her new video, the snake appears in pink and promptly explodes and turns into butterflies, suggesting that Taylor is starting a new and happier chapter.

However, the snake does reappear in the form of multiple clouds suggesting that she is aware they are all around her and can come back at any time, but as she rises above them, she is letting people know they can't get to her anymore.

The big questions: Taylor has been famously feuding with Kanye West and Kim Kardashian but is she over it now?

Brendan proposes to Taylor in the video, but she rejects his advances. Could this refer to her real-life romance with actor Joe Alwyn?

Fans have remembered that she also turned down an engagement in her Love What You Made Me Do video and speculated that this could be about turning down ex Calvin Harris.

There appears to be some confusion as Taylor wrote that she has been 'keeping a secret for months' and asks her fans to see if they can spot it in the video.

Fans love that she turns down the ring for a new kitten and while some people think she's saying she is not engaged, others think the presentation of the ring suggests she could be tying the knot.

One fan wrote of the moment: 'I have a feeling that this might be the secret she has kept... OMG! If this is true... CONGRATULATIONS! I really hope it’s true!'

Another playfully wrote: '@taylorswift13 engaged? Pregnant? Will open a candy factory? A half breed unicorn? Name it mom!'

Taylor is already the owner of two cats, Meredith and Olivia, but Brendan offers her a new kitten in the video, leading fans to speculate she has a new pet.

And they were right! Just hours later, Taylor shared a picture of herself with her new feline companion on Instagram.

She wrote: 'And then there were three...'

The hitmaker likes to give clues about her future records and the word 'Lover' is shown in the form of a pink neon sign, leading fans to believe that she will release a song with that name.

The stunner also wears a pink dress with a massive heart emblazoned on the front, which is also telling.

We hear you! Wearing a massive heart on her dress, Taylor gave another hint about Lover being the name of a new record, or was she referencing that engagement again?

Again, this could be another hint about the name Lover, or she could be addressing those Joe Alwyn rumours again.

Moreover, Taylor sings: 'I know that I went psycho on the phone' and wears a version of Killing Eve's psychopath Villanelle's pink Molly Goddard dress to hammer the point home.

The line in the song is a reference to a line in her old song in Look What You Made Me Do, when she famously sang: 'I’m sorry, the old Taylor can’t come to the phone right now. Why? Oh, cause she’s dead!'

However, this time, the phone is sitting on one of the clouds and Taylor answers it, suggesting she's feeling alive again and back to her self.

There is also a wall of pictures of chicks and country pop band, The Dixie Chicks themselves, so fans believe they are set to work together on some music.

After watching the video, the band took to Twitter and wrote: '[eyes looking sideways emoji @taylorswift13'.

People wrote: 'Dixie Chicks? Is there a duet coming? We need answers.'

The video is awash with colour and rainbows feature heavily.

Taylor also wears a pair of white country boots in one scene, which is another nod towards her Dixie Chicks collaboration due to their country genre.

Taylor said in an interview with Robin Roberts, that ME! is a song about embracing your individuality.

She draws a parallel here between the colours of a rainbow, and personalities of different people.

It's likely that Taylor is also showing her support to the LGBTQ community. Just last month, she contributed $113,000 to the Tennessee Equality Project and the video was released on Lesbian Visibility Day.

Taylor's snake also seems to have been reincarnated as a unicorn in a Mary Poppins inspired scene as she is now inspired by friendlier clouds, which appears to suggest she is on cloud nine.

Again, this is a positive thing, but other conspiracy theorists compared the unicorn to the dragon in Game Of Thrones.

Does Taylor know the secret ending?
