Johnny Depp greeted Jimmy Kimmel with a big kiss on the lips Thursday while joining his chat show taped in Hollywood.

The 53-year-old actor at first dropped a white handkerchief on the ground as he took the stage and Kimmel, 49, bent over and picked it up.

Depp then planted a smooch on him.

'It's a tradition now,' Kimmel said.

'Nobody else has picked up on it yet,' Depp replied.

The Hollywood star was promoting his new movie Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales that will be in theaters May 26.

Depp reprises his role as Captain Jack Sparrow for the fifth film in the franchise that hsa earned more than $3.7 billion at the box office.

The actor recently dressed as the swashbuckler and addressed riders on the Pirates Of The Caribbean attraction at Disneyland in Anaheim, California.

Depp during his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! said when he did the first Pirates Of The Caribbean movie that Disney showed him around the ride in the park's New Orleans Square themed land.

He said it would be 'so great to stand there like an animatronic' and Disney recently asked him to do it.

'The boat comes around the corner. I'm speaking to them, specifically. ''You in the purple shrt, ears and ...'',' Depp said of the experience.

'Nothing,' he continued.

Passengers on the dark ride mostly just held their phones up and recorded him.

'Cheapest animatronic I've ever seen,' he quipped.

Kimmel and Depp also reminisced about their late friend comedian Don Rickles who died last month at age 90 in Beverly Hills, California.

Depp did a spot-on impersonation of the legendary comic as he recalled being 'razzed' by him.

Kimmel also asked about Depp's children Lily-Rose, 18, and 15-year-old son Jack.

The 21 Jump Street star was asked if he was teaching Jack how to drive.

'I'm not teaching him how to drive,' Depp responded.

Kimmel asked if was because Depp was not a good example behind the wheel.

'He has my instincts, my boy. He's crashed around five golf carts,' Depp revealed.

'Does he play golf?,' Kimmel asked.

Ann Wilson, 66, joined the house band Cleto And The Cletones as a guest vocalist.

'Science Bob' Pflugfelder also was a guest on the show.

Linkin Park was the musical guest and changed their playlist in honor of Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell who died Wednesday aged 52 of suicide. 

The group performed One More Light - the title track from their new seventh studio album released Friday.

The emotional ballad received a strong applause from the outdoor studio audience after ending with the lines: 'Who cares if one more light goes out?, Well I do, Well I do.'
