Quizzed about whether he has been giving acting tips from his father before filming Tolkien, Tyler admitted to MailOnline: 'I got tips from everyone.

'I'm so young in my career and I'm still learning a lot and I'm so lucky to have these people around me who know the industry very well.

'And they're just very inspirational so that's something I can really thrive on. Just having these people who know their stuff.'

Tyler did, however, reveal that his father had imparted specific words of wisdom for how the aspiring star should conduct himself on film sets.

'Never be late. Always be on time. Don't skip the lunch queue so you don't look like a bit of an idiot, and just be kind and friendly and know your lines.'

When asked if he would ever follow in his father's footsteps and be the next Dr Who, the budding actor admitted the prospect had never crossed his mind.

He said: 'Ooh that's a tricky one, I've weirdly never thought about it but who knows I'm just gonna leave it like that.'

In March 2012 Scottish actor David Tennant revealed he had become a 'double dad' after adopting his wife Georgia Moffett's son Tyler a year earlier.

The former Doctor Who told Absolute Radio at the time: 'My baby is almost a year old and I adopted my wife's boy last year as well so I became a father twice in six months - that's got to be something of a record hasn't it?'

Georgia gave birth to Tyler in 2002, when she was just 17. She brought him up alone and has never publicly revealed who the father is.

David, 48, and Georgia, 34, are also parents to Olive, eight, Wilfred, five and Doris, four.

The pair married in a romantic ceremony on New Year's Eve in 2011 after meeting when Georgia played the actor's daughter in Doctor Who.

David played the role of The Doctor in the hit series from 2005 to 2010, while Georgia's dad Peter Davison played the titular Time Lord between 1981 and 1984.
