He died like the devoted knight he always was, defending the life of his beloved Queen Daenerys Targaryen. 

But while Ser Jorah Mormont faced a dignified, albeit brutal end at the hands of the White Walkers, the actor who played him was in high spirits after filming his final scenes in Game Of Thrones

Taking to Instagram on Monday, Emilia Clarke shared a selfie of herself and a rather battered Iain Glenn shortly after their involvement in the epic Battle of Winterfell.

Lifting a line from one of Tina Turner's greatest hits, sh captioned the snap: 'YOURE SIMPLY THE BEST, BETTER THAN ALL THE REST, BETTER THAN ANYONE, ANYONE IVE EVER MET.' (sic)

The post comes after Gemma Whelan delighted fans by sharing a behind the scenes breastfeeding snap during filming Battle of Winterfell.

The actress, 38, took to her Instagram to post a picture of herself feeding her baby daughter, who she welcomed in October 2017, on set while shooting season 8.

Wearing her costume, complete with face paint on, Gemma posed for a snap with her child while breastfeeding in a trailer.

She hilariously captioned it with: 'Enjoy tonight's episode guys...! Yara's got some big news... #got #hbo #plottwistahoy.'

Gemma's fans were quick to respond to the picture, with one fan writing: 'Proud of you, mama. Nothing like nursing sessions between battle scenes, I’m sure. So excited for tonight I can HARDLY STAND IT.' 

Another account said: 'What an empowering and beautiful photo!! You’re a ninja!!'

While a different fan added: 'Feeds between sets! How cute.'

One billion tuned in as the highly anticipated Game of Thrones kicked off its eighth and final season on HBO earlier this month with the season premiere, the first of a six-episode final season.

The third episode, which aired in the US on Sunday night, will be the longest in series history, spanning 82 minutes, with the fourth episode spanning 78 minutes and the fifth and sixth spanning 80 minutes apiece.

Game of Thrones concludes on May 19.
