Felicity Huffman and husband William H. Macy step out for a hike in LA amid college admissions scandal... as she faces four to 10 months for $15,000 payoff

She will appear in court on May 13 in Boston - over a week earlier than previously scheduled.

And on Wednesday, Felicity Huffman, 56, and husband William H. Macy, 69, were spotted stepping out for a hike in Los Angeles.

Felicity, who donned a zippered pullover with leggings and a baseball cap, was also seen chatting with a female pal who tagged along.

The former Desperate Housewives actress is set to appear in court on May 13; she was previously scheduled for May 21 but it was moved up at the request of the prosecution.

Eric Rosen with the US Attorney's office told Judge Indira Talwani in the filing that he's unable to appear on May 21 because he will be out of the country.

'The Government has conferred with defense counsel for Defendant, who has graciously consented to this request,' explained Rosen in the court filing, which was obtained by DailyMail.com.

The Boston Globe reported the story first.

She is expected to enter a plea of guilty at her formal indictment to a charge of conspiracy to commit mail fraud and honest services mail fraud.

While the maximum sentence is 20 years, she will face much less time behind bars.

The US Attorney's office previously stated it would recommend a sentence on the lower end of those guidelines - four to ten months.

Felicity and William are parents to daughters Sofia, 18, and Georgia, 17.

In April, Felicity admitted paying $15,000 to a fake charity to facilitate cheating on her daughter Sofia's SATs.

After news broke, the TV star released a statement; she said she was 'ashamed of the pain I have caused my daughter, my family, my friends, my colleagues and the educational community.'

Adding: 'My daughter knew absolutely nothing about my actions, and in my misguided and profoundly wrong way, I have betrayed her.'

She is expected to waive her indictment during her court appearance.

The possible shorter prison time means that Felicity could potentially put this college admissions scandal behind her by the end of the year.

Lori Loughlin, however, might be in the pre-trial phase for over a year; the Full House star is entering a not guilty plea against the claims she paid to get her eldest daughter into the University of Southern California.

The 54-year-old actress and husband Mossimo, 55, are parents to daughters Isabella, 20, and Olivia, 19.

Multiple sources told DailyMail.com that one of the actress’ daughters received a target letter from federal prosecutors earlier this month about the probe.

That letter informed the her that she was the subject of an investigation - which could result in criminal charges.

Lori and her husband are facing jail time since they opted to use the athletics route to gain their daughters admittance into USC.

This required Isabella and Olivia, who had never before rowed in their lives, to pretend they were on crew teams.

In order to sell that, they posed for photos on ergometers, suggesting that they were both aware and willing participants in their parents' plan.

Furthermore, Olivia knowingly had Singer's team fill out her college applications according to the complaint.

'On or about December 12, 2017, Loughlin e-mailed [Singer], copying Giannulli and their younger daughter [Olivia], to request guidance on how to complete the formal USC application, in the wake of her daughter’s provisional acceptance as a recruited athlete,' states the complaint.

'Loughlin wrote: "[Our younger daughter] has not submitted all her colleges [sic] apps and is confused on how to do so. I want to make sure she gets those in as I don’t want to call any attention to [her] with our little friend at [her high school]. Can you tell us how to proceed?"'

In response, Singer wrote an email 'directing an employee to submit the applications on behalf of the Giannullis’ younger daughter [Olivia].

Lori and Mossimo 'agreed to pay bribes totaling $500,000 in exchange for having their two daughters designated as recruits to the USC crew team - despite the fact that they did not participate in crew - thereby facilitating their admission to USC,' according to the documents.

They emailed Singer in 2016 about their daughters college prospects, stating that they wanted to do the necessary work to see that the girls got into USC as opposed to Arizona State University.
