The daughter of iconic singer Phil Collins donned a black one-shoulder body which clung to her slender waist and taut midriff.

Adding drama to the look, she slipped on the high-shine prom-style skirt which flowed into a graceful A-line.

The star completed the ensemble with black lace detail stiletto heels.

Her brunette tresses were styled in pre-Raphaelite inspired waves, flowing over one shoulder while her make-up look featured smoky shadow and berry lipstick.

Former Skins actor Nicholas, who takes the lead as the famed Lord of the Rings author, kept his look casual cool in a black shirt with white polka dots paired with black jeans and shoes.

He layered up in a camel suede jacket for the event.

Lily's character Edith, inspired Lord Of The Rings' elven queen Arwen Evenstar, in the new biopic about the author's early years.

Previously speaking about the literary genius, Lily told The Mail On Sunday: ‘I’m a huge fan of The Lord Of The Rings.

'Playing the woman who inspired the elven queen was my way of working around these stories in a different way.

'As much as I’d loved the stories themselves, to be able to play a character who inspired some of them was amazing.’

The film echoes Tolkien and Bratt's real-life love story. They met and fell in love when the author was just 16 and she was three years his senior.

She added: 'I was able to learn so much about this author. There’s a lot about the First World War, and director Dome Karukoski has an interesting perspective on this.

'Nicholas Hoult, who plays Tolkien, was just wonderful – he’s been a friend for a while, so to be able to work with him was a joy.

'I think a lot of people will love this film. It’s an epic drama and it’s very British too.'

The first trailer for Tolkien was released in February, and opens with Lily narrating over a scene of the author as a child, as she asks him: 'Tell me a story.'

His guardian asked him to wait until he was 21 to pursue the romance with Edith as he believed he had been paying less attention at school due to love and didn't like that Edith was a Protestant and not a Catholic.

Tolkien begrudgingly obeyed the instruction and wrote to Edith on the evening of his 21st birthday with a proposal but discovered she was engaged to another man.

Edith didn't think Tolkien loved her any more and was worried about being left on the shelf, but she admitted the letter had changed everything for her.

She returned the ring and she and Tolkien married, with Edith converting to Catholicism and being thrown out of her home as a result.

They remained together until Edith passed away in 1971 and they are now buried alongside one another.

They have the names Beren and Lúthien on their headstones, named after two lovers who appear in several of Tolkien's works and were inspired by their own love affair.

It was reported that Tolkien's family have distanced themselves from an upcoming biopic about the author and do not approve of the new film.

In the first statement made by the Tolkien Estate regarding the biopic, the family of the author said it does not endorse the Fox Searchlight production 'in any way'.
