Jason Momoa looks in high spirits as he leaves chat show... after shaving his trademark beard to promote recycling

He recently shaved his trademark beard in order to raise awareness for recycling. 

And Jason Momoa seemed pleased with his new look as he flashed a broad smile whilst leaving the Jimmy Kimmel Live studio in Hollywood on Thursday. 

Debuting his new stubble, the 39-year-old Hawaiian native beamed and larked around for the cameras on the outing.

Keeping his look simple, the Aquaman star donned an all-black outfit with a leather jacket, matching T-shirt and black trousers.

Jason completed his ensemble with black boots and accessorized with a necklace and ring.

The star's trademark dark, curly locks were worn loose, framing his features.  down around his shoulders.

Jason recently shaved off his beard in the middle of a plastic-filled desert to promote recycling. 

He pulled out a razor and told his friend that the 'last time I shaved was in 2012'.

The actor as he cut off his beard said 'bye' to his famous characters including Game Of Thrones's Khal Drogo and Aquaman's Arthur Curry.

Jason in the video shared on his YouTube and social media pages said he underwent the makeover to 'make a positive change for the health of our planet'.

'Most importantly, I just wanna do this to bring awareness. Plastics are killing our planet,' he said.

Jason - who is married to Lisa Bonet - can next be seen on the big screen the upcoming sci-fi epic Dune based on the 1965 Frank Herbert novel of the same name.

The film also will star Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Zendaya, David Dastmalchian, Stephen Henderson, Charlotte Rampling and Javier Bardem

Dune is expected to be split into two parts with the first film roughly covering the first half of the novel due out on November 20, 2020.
