Debra Messing shared two images to her 1.1M Instagram followers on Monday where she looked very different.

It may have been the 50-year-old Will & Grace star's makeup or the angle of the camera, but there was no arguing that she looked far from her usual self.

And the New York native's fans demanded to know what she has done to her face with several commentators mercilessly tearing down the star.

And Messing noticed as she replied that she had simply been getting some very good facials in Manhattan.

It all began when Debra shared two photos just before going to the DoSomething Gala in New York.

She was honored for her charity work and proud of it as she wrote in her caption, 'Thank you @dosomething for the extraordinary honor of being named one of your 2019 Empower Players. I am committed to supporting all efforts by the countless activists who fight daily to make our world healthier, safer, and more equitable. #dosomething.'

But instead of focusing on her good deeds, several of her followers picked apart her looks.

Debra had a quick answer: 'NOPE! Getting tons of facials at @joannavargasnyc and using every gadget on the market!'

Joanna Vargas Skin Care - Facials, Body Treatments, Led Light Therapy, Salon & Day Spa is located in NYC and offers 90 minute forever facial for $500 and a 45 minute Power Peel for $175.

She denied it: Debra had a quick answer: 'NOPE! Getting tons of facials at @joannavargasnyc and using every gadget on the market!'

There is also an Oxygen Purifying Facial for 60 minutes that costs $250. And if Joanna does it herself, it costs $550.

Still the rude comments persisted.

'I would not have recognized you, who are so pretty and INTERESTING..... fire these awful make-up people who turned you into someone as vapid as a Barbie doll!!!!!' said katikoosmodesto.

Varonesmith added, 'Why would you do that??? reakky you lost your true self.'

And one fan was brutally blunt: 'Argh so much surgery?!'

Others stood up for her.

Gretahall said, '@therealdebramessing absolutely beautiful! I can only hope to look a smidge of that gorgeous in a few more years. I wish people weren’t so rude. You’re human too! Respectfully, a fan of yours. Have a wonderful day D!'

And rhulowski chimed in, 'Why do people think it's okay say whatever they want to others with no regard for feelings and with no respect? I'm floored by it daily. And we do it to Stars who have given us so much by way of entertainment, joy and happiness. They don't owe us anything more especially in the way of their looks or fashion.'

And when Tony Maciulis said, 'A little sad this is a post about a cause and most of the comments are on your eye makeup,' Debra spoke up again adding, 'THANK YOU.'

In 2017 Debra has admitted to using CoolSculpting to freeze fat off her body.

But she has denied getting any work done to her face.

In fact, she said she was repulsed when it was suggested she get a nose job for her role opposite Keanu Reeves in the 1995 film A Walk In The Clouds.

'I'd never been on a film before,' she said in an interview. 'I was doing a love scene with Keanu Reeves. We started filming and the very famous director screamed "cut" and said, "How quickly can we get a plastic surgeon in here? Her nose is ruining my movie."'

She added, 'It's taken me years and years and years to finally own my differences and love what's different about me, and to come face to face with a truth within my industry, within our culture.

'There is a very narrow definition of what a beautiful, vital, vibrant, interesting woman looks like, and that's the thing we're constantly fighting against.

'My nose and I have come this far, and like Barbra Streisand, I’m defiantly keeping it.'

Oddly, when on the carpet at DoSomething, Debra's face looked more like what fans are used to.

She went for a gorgeous copper colored dress for the socially-conscious event.

The gleaming, rippled dress hung down to the floor, and its off the shoulder cut showcased her fiery red tresses cascading over her shoulders.

She was one of the events adult honorees thanks to her LGBTQ and social justice activism.

The Searching actress posed at the event with transgender rights activist Gavin Grimm, who rocked a purple checker shirt and an on-point 'Show Up For Trans Kids' T-shirt.

Grimm, who identifies as a transgender man, came to national attention when he sued the Gloucester County School Board in Virginia after he was denied the use of the men's restroom at his high school.

He was one of the six youth activists being honored at the gala, which was sponsored by DoSomething.org, a tech company that helps young activists to create large volunteer projects.
