Kanye West casts Jaden Smith to play a younger version of himself in new anthology series Omniverse

They've known each other for years as part of the Calabasas circle of celebrities.

And now Kanye West and Jaden Smith are teaming up for a TV show, Variety reported Wednesday.

The Ye rapper, 41, is executive producing a Showtime series titled Omniverse which will star Smith, 20, as 'an alternate reality Kanye West.'

Showtime has ordered a script for the series which will also be co-executive produced by Smith and Scooter Braun through their production companies.

According to Variety, Omniverse is pitched as a half-hour anthology series 'examining the many doors of perception.' 

'Season 1 will explore the Ego through an alternate reality Kanye West, whose younger self will be played by Smith,' the publication reported.

The script is being written by Lee Sung Jin, whose credits include Netflix's Tuca & Bertie and HBO's Silicon Valley.

Jaden, the son of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, made his acting debut at age five in The CW series All Of Us, created by his famous parents.

He went on to star with his dad in the 2006 film The Pursuit of Happyness and again in the 2013 film After Earth.

He's also had roles in two Hollywood remakes - The Day The Earth Stood Still in 2008 and The Karate Kid in 2010. 

Most recently the 20-year-old has been focusing on music, releasing his debut studio album Syre in 2017 and a follow-up Syre: The Electric Album in 2018, and touring with Post Malone.
