The legendary Welsh crooner, 78, had his first performance on the road in front of an adoring crowd in San Jose, California on Thursday.

He fondly recalled hanging out with Elvis in Las Vegas, saying the two would sometimes stay up all night listening to music.

The next night, Jones was seen dining with the King of Rock 'n' Roll's widow Priscilla Presley, 73, at celebrity hotspot Catch in Los Angeles.

Jones told the crowd: 'You know, when I was singing a lot in Las Vegas sometimes I would be there at the same time as Elvis Presley.

'Sometimes we would stay up all night.

'Elvis loved to sing gospel songs, I loved to listen to him and learn.'

Jones has previously spoken about growing up in Wales vowing to friends: 'I'll meet Elvis one day'.

The pair first met on the lot of Paramount Studios in 1965 and became good friends.

On Friday night, Jones dined with Priscilla at Catch, joined by Alana Stewart, Alex Hamilton and weatherman Kyle Hunter.

Since his wife Linda's death three years ago, the Welshman has been spotted taking Priscilla out for intimate dinners.

After finishing a Latin-inspired version of Delilah, he appeared sad as he told the crowd: 'You know, the man who wrote that song is no longer with us. He died. Les Reed, his name was'

On Thursday night, one frenzied fan launched a pussycat doll at him. The Voice coach, wearing a striped suit jacket, shot a wry smile at the crowd after the cuddly toy fell at his feet on stage. Picking it up he said: 'Hold on, what's this? What's new pussycat? 'Yeah, we got it. We got it'

Linda died after a short battle with cancer in April of 2016, but Jones still wears his wedding ring.

It was previously reported two years ago that Jones was 'courting' former Dallas soap star Priscilla, who married Elvis when she was 14.

Jones' 2019 tour will see him perform in the US, UK and Europe until August.

The mega tour comes after the It's Not Unusual singer was forced to cancel a number of shows due to a viral infection last year.

In 2017 he also went under the knife to get a hip replacement.

However in San Jose, he showed he still has the energy to get up on stage for an hour and a half and belt out classic tunes such as Delilah.

In his heyday women would famously throw their underwear at him during concerts.

On Thursday night there were no panties thrown but one frenzied fan launched a pussycat doll at him instead.

The Voice coach, wearing a striped suit jacket, black T-shirt, black jeans and boots, shot a wry smile at the crowd after the cuddly toy fell at his feet on stage.

Picking it up he said: 'Hold on, what's this? What's new pussycat?
