Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner and singer Joe Jonas surprised fans when they eloped in Las Vegas on Wednesday.
When the news hit that the celebrity couple tied the knot, many were wondering what happened to their earlier plans to wed in France.
A source says that the duo tied the knot to make things official in the United States but will still be moving forward with a bigger wedding in France over the summer, according to People Magazine.

'They had to get married in the States to make it legal, but the wedding is still in Europe,' the insider said.
The source added that the couple needed to make it legitimate in America but are going full steam ahead with a larger event in France.

Joe previously joked that after the venue ran out of beer at Nick and Priyanka's wedding, they were planning on flying in a lot of Coors to France.
'I mean, we are getting married in France, so a lot of Coors Light is necessary,' he said in an interview on the Zach Sang Show.
'They had to get married in the States to make it legal, but the wedding is still in Europe,' the insider said.

Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas officially tied the knot in Las Vegas after the Billboard Awards, complete without an Elvis impersonator and candy rings.
The bride's outfit was totally dreamy, and instead of choosing a big white dress for the wedding ceremony, she opted for a slinky ivory all-in-one.

It was a big surprise this weekend the couple eloped in a famous Vegas wedding chapel at a ceremony which cost just $600 and was officiated by an Elvis Presley impersonator.
DJ Diplo, 40, took to his Instagram Story to share videos of the nuptials which took place hours after the 2019 Billboard Music Awards were held in the same city and saw the Jonas brothers perform.

Fans were particularly upset that Sophie's on-screen sister and off-screen best friend Maisie Williams wasn't in attendance, as she had previously shared that she was a bridesmaid.

The celebrity couple, who started dating in 2016, and announced their engagement in October 2017.
Their ceremony in the Vegas chapel was presided over by an Elvis impersonator. In one clip, Sophie repeats the words: 'I thee wed.... and I love you... and I thank God He gave me you.'
Then the couple, at Elvis's direction, repeated to each other in unison: 'I promise you, I will never leave you. I will love and trust you all the days of my life.'

Elvis then instructed Sophie to kiss the ring, but as it was a candy ring, she decided to give it a big lick, which amused Joe immensely.

In the couple's marriage certificate, obtained by TMZ, the Game Of Thrones actress will now be going by the name, Sophie Belinda Jonas.
After the happy event, the newlyweds celebrated with their friends by jumping into their hotel hot tub fully-clothed, keeping the party going late into the night.

It had already been a momentous night for Joe who, with brothers Nick and Kevin, had performed for the first time in 10 years as the Jonas Brothers at a live awards show.
The trio performed a medley of hits including their recent Billboard Hot 100 number one Sucker to the delight of the crowd.
They were cheered on by their ladies - Sophie, who wore a stunning colourful metallic jumpsuit by Louis Vuitton, as well as Priyanka and Kevin's wife Danielle.
The band are due to perform at London's Capital Summertime Ball at London's Wembley stadium on June 8.
Nick said last month that he was delighted at how well the ladies all get along with one another and said that it gives him a 'great feeling.'
He told Entertainment Tonight: 'It's kind of the dream where, as close as we are as brothers, that our wives [and then Joe's fiancée] are so connected, as well.
'It's obviously a huge adjustment for everybody, talking about us getting back together as a band and then working together so much again.
'These incredible women have handled it so well and for each of us, individually and as a group. To get to share that with them is a really amazing thing.
'And the family's just getting bigger and bigger, and that's a beautiful thing. We love including our loved ones, our family, in everything we do … our house is for everyone, our doors are always open. That is, in my opinion, how it should be.'
Hours earlier, the musicians had announced their first tour in a decade together in support of a new album Happy Beginnings that will drop on June 7.
The 40-date North American tour kicks off August 7 in Miami, Florida, and wraps up October 20 at the Hollywood Bowl in LA.
