FIFA Ultimate Team ICONS will give fans the chance to play as some of the game's greatest ever players.

And that will be improved by the fact that each of those legends will have three different versions in FIFA 18, selected from significant stages of the careers of the players.

EA Sports have also revealed that former Barcelona and Brazil great Ronaldinho has been given the ICON treatment in the new version of the game.

Thierry Henry is one of several legends who will have three different versions in-game

The Stories aspect of ICONS means that players can pick up, for example, Thierry Henry when he was a youngster at Monaco, during his blistering 2002 season or when he was on the cusp of a move to Barca.

Other features announced on Tuesday night include the new Squad Battles mode.

Squad Battles, which is a single player mode, lets a player take on other squad from the community, move up the leaderboards and earn rewards.

Features Squad Battles will let footballers, pro FIFA players and celebrities include their squad for members of the community to take on.

Pack opening - one of the more enjoyable parts of FIFA Ultimate Team - has been given an aesthetic overhaul courtesy of the Frostbite game engine.

There are also new objectives which are dynamic and can run over a day or week.

New squad building challenges have also been included in FIFA 18. They now add combined player requirements and brick slots that will improve the challenge for the elite player.

In a boost to fans of the eSports aspect of FIFA, a Champions Channel has been included allowing players to watch full replays from the world's best players.
