Diddy is a proud father of his three daughters as they make their first public appearance following ex-partner Kim Porter's death

It's been nearly six month since the death of his former partner Kim Porter, and Sean 'Diddy' Combs and his family are ready for the spotlight again.

On Saturday, the 49-year-old rap mogul made his first red carpet appearance with his three youngest children since his ex died in November from a battle with pneumonia at the age of 47.

The musician and his daughters attended the Ladylike Foundation's Women of Excellence luncheon in Beverly Hills.

The It's All About The Benjamins rapper was dressed in all black, with a button up shirt and matching trousers, as well as dark sunglasses.

His arm was held up in a sling, though he seemed to be in good spirits.

The record producer was accompanied by his three youngest daughters, twins D'Lila Star and Jessie James, both 12, and their older sister Chance, 13.

The identical twins wore matching white gowns with ornate gold stitching across the front, whereas Chance favored a similar pale pink gown.

Though he seemed to be in high spirits at the event, it came only days after he broke down while speaking about his late soul mate for an interview with Essence

'They say time heals all wounds when it comes to mothers…I don’t think that’s the case,' he said in an unedited audio interview.

The I'll Be Missing You hitmaker began to break down as she said that the strongest beings on the face of the earth 'still have to be black mothers'.

'I don’t think anyone would ever understand how hard it is to be a black mother,' said the fashion mogul, through tears.

The entrepreneur also talked about his model ex's unexpected death in the magazine's May issue.

In addition to Diddy's youngest daughters, Porter is also the mother of his 21-year-old son Christian. Combs told the magazine he has learned to be a more attentive father in the aftermath of his grief.

'Before this, I was a part-time father, you know? My family was always first, but there are countless times when I chose work over everything else,' he said.

'But every day I can hear her telling me to go and spend some time with the kids and make sure everybody's all right, like she would do. I'm just a lot more present, and, most important, now my kids come before anything else in my life.'

Three days before she died, according to Combs, she was sick with the flu and 'sent the kids over to my house so they wouldn't get sick.'

He recalled one night, when he went to check on her, 'she was like, "Puffy, take care of my babies." She actually said that to me before she died.'

He said he went into 'mommy mode' after Porter's death, trying desperately to make sure the kids wouldn't hear about it online or on the news.

'Every time Kim and I talked, it was about the kids,' Combs said. 'It was what she cared about the most.'
