Australian singer Conrad Sewell is feeling confident about his new music.

Ahead of the release of Life, his first ever full-length studio album, the Brisbane musician has revealed he has always aimed for the skies.

'I believed straight away that I was capable of winning a Grammy [award] one day,' said Conrad, 31, to The Sydney Morning Herald on Sunday.

Conrad made the bold claim while discussing the ambition his mother had instilled in him since he first started singing at just 10-years-old.

'I wanted to be a rock star. It wasn't just singing for me, it was, you know, world domination of the music charts,' continued Conrad.

He then joked: 'This is going to be most arrogant article I've ever done.'

Life, which is released on May 17, follows Conrad's open battle with booze and drugs.

During an interview with The Sunday Telegraph last year, the artist admitted it was these 'dark times' that shaped the upcoming record.

'Drugs and alcohol change a person and I have been there for sure. I saw it start to take away all the goodness in me, literally even with my voice,' said Conrad.

'It started f**king with my voice, I wasn’t singing like I used to. Healthwise it was having an affect on me too, being in that scene. I had to look at everything.'

Despite this being Conrad's first full-length album, his music is already widely known around the world following several huge singles.

In 2015, single Start Again won Song Of The Year at the ARIA Awards.

A year before that, track Firestone with Kygo was certified platinum in Australia and received much chart success around Europe.

Conrad has also opened for the likes of Ed Sheeran and Maroon 5, and enjoyed a one year long romance with Ali Simpson, which ended in June, 2018.
