Kate Hudson is fab in florals as she chats on the phone during sunny Los Angeles outing

Kate Hudson was spotted this weekend stepping out for a sunlit stroll in Los Angeles while modeling a stylish floral dress.

Slicking her blonde hair into a bun, the 40-year-old daughter of Goldie Hawn accented the look with a fashionably torn denim jacket.

The Almost Famous actress rounded off the ensemble with white open-toed slippers, chatting on the phone as she headed up the sidewalk.

On October 2 this past year, Kate gave birth to her first daughter and youngest of three children, Rani Rose Hudson Fujikawa.

Kate shares her bouncing baby daughter with her musician boyfriend Danny Fujikawa, whom she has been dating for over a year now.

She has a 15-year-old son called Ryder by her ex-husband Chris Robinson, as well as a seven-year-old son called Bingham by her former fiance Matt Bellamy.

Kate hit the headlines in January for an interview in which she was asked about the distinction between raising a daughter and sons.

'It doesn’t really change my approach, but there’s definitely a difference. I think you just raise your kids individually regardless - like a genderless [approach]. We still don’t know what she’s going to identify as,' she told AOL.

'I will say that, right now, she is incredibly feminine in her energy, her sounds and her way. It’s very different from the boys, and it’s really fun to actually want to buy kids’ clothes,' shared Kate, whose mother has been with Kurt Russell for decades.

'With the boys it was just like onesies … actually, I did pretty good with the boys. But with her it’s a whole other ball game. There’s some stuff that I’m like: "I can’t do that to her, because it’s so over-the-top."'

Amid a storm of criticism over the 'genderless' remark, Kate fired up her Instagram to issue a statement to her nearly 10 million followers.

'Dear all my friends, fans and others who read this, Recently someone asked me something along the lines of, if having and raising a girl is different from boys. My response was simple. Not really,' she wrote.

'This whole click bait tactic of saying I’m raising my daughter to be “genderless” is silly and frankly doesn’t even make sense. I raise and will continue to raise my children, both my boys and girl to feel free to be exactly who they want to be. To feel confident in their life choices and feel loved and supported no matter what.'

She added: 'Me saying a "genderless approach" was a way of re focusing the conversation in a direction that could exist outside of the female stereotype. It just felt a little antiquated to me. Not all girls want to be a princess, some want to be king. And that’s fine by me.'

Although Goldie had Kate with her second ex-husband Bill Hudson, Goldie's beau of more than 30 years, Kurt, is the man Kate calls 'Pa.'

Marcia Ross, the casting director of the smash hit 1999 comedy 10 Things I Hate About You, recently told New York Times that Kate was offered the Julia Stiles role in the film 'But her mom didn't like the script for her, so she passed.'
