In the clip leading man Kit Harington (Jon Snow) couldn't hide his feelings, seen covering his mouth with his hand in shock while a smiling Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark) sat to one side and Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister) was on the other. Rory McCann (Sandor 'The Hound' Clegane) sat next to Sophie.

Elsewhere Conleth Hill (Varys) wrapped his arm around Gwendoline Christie, the powerhouse behind Brienne Of Tarth.

Principal players Emilia Clarke, Maisie Williams and Alfie Allen could also be seen during the first season eight read.

'This is strange,' co-creator D.B. Weiss told the room of actors, 'Here we are at the last table read. It's like looking around and seeing your family.'

In addition to emotional moments, the trailer provided tons of behind-the-scenes footage, showcasing the hard work of producers, prop-masters, stunt people, special effects experts, writers and many, many more.

HBO described the two-hour film as a deep delve 'into the mud and blood to reveal the tears and triumphs involved in the challenge of bringing the fantasy world of Westeros to life in the very real studios, fields and car-parks of Northern Ireland…

'Much more than a "making of" documentary, this is a funny, heartbreaking story, told with wit and intimacy, about the bittersweet pleasures of what it means to create a world – and then have to say goodbye to it.'

'I’m really emotional about [the finale.] We had the read through last week, so I know everything. But I cried at the end – not over anything particular that happened – but it’s been 8 years and no one cares about it more than we do.'
