Most of us feel out of our depth or intimidated at some point in our life but it seems even when your a A-list movie star these feelings don't just vanish.  

Dame Helen Mirren, 73, known for her roles in Prime Suspect and The Queen has opened up during Mental Health Awareness Week about how she still feels 'intimidated' when she walks on to movie sets.

The star, who is an A-list in her own right, having won a Golden Globe and spanned a TV and movie career of 50 years said she sometimes feels 'boring and not exciting enough'.

The actor revealed her thoughts on the My Self Worth podcast, by L’Oréal Paris and The Prince’s Trust, launched today for Mental Health Awareness Week, in a bid to help boost listeners' confidence.

The star, who is an A-list in her own right, having won a Golden Globe and spanned a TV and movie career of 50 years said she sometimes feels 'boring and not exciting enough'.

On the podcast Mirren says: 'Those negative thoughts are always lurking there under the surface… everybody feels this way, you aren’t the only one.'

'What always comes up in my head is that ‘I’m boring, I’m stupid, I’m not exciting enough’. 

She carried on with how she felt 'incredibly intimidated' with 'these humongous movie stars' when she walked on to a film set.

But just like the rest of us she battles her inner critic by giving herself a pep talk.

She revealed on the podcast: 'Sometimes I lock myself in the loo to give myself a talking to: "you can do it Helen, don’t worry, you can do it!’”
