David Beckham gets his shooting boots on as he enjoys a kickabout with Jack Whitehall, Dave Gardner and his three sons ahead of emotional return to Old Trafford

David Beckham was joined by close friends and family members on Sunday afternoon as he squeezed in some much needed football practice ahead of his return to Old Trafford in May.

The former England captain pulled on his shooting boots for a kickabout in a London park with comedian Jack Whitehall, best pal Dave Gardner and his three sons, Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz.

Taking to Instagram later that day, Beckham, 44, admitted the game gave him an opportunity to stretch his legs as he prepares to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Manchester United’s historic treble winning season.

Sharing a group shot of Jack, his boys and their teammates, he wrote: 'Nice little warm up before the match in a few weeks.'

Jack also documented their Sunday afternoon by sharing a photo of himself and Beckham arm in arm with a reference to the former footballer's impressive trophy cabinet.

He wrote: 'Casual Sunday kick around. Between us 10 league titles, 2 FA Cups a Champions League and the Marlborough College 3rd XI golden boot (3 goals). Quite the haul.'

'Great match. But ohhhh boy I am going to feel it tomorrow morning,' he added.'

Beckham will soon return to spiritual home Old Trafford, where he will reunite with his former Manchester United teammates for a match played in honour of their treble winning heroics.

The retired footballer was an integral part of the team that won the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League in 1999.

Legendary former manager Sir Alex Ferguson will also return to manage the side as they take on Bayern Munich, the team they narrowly beat to the European Cup on that memorable night in Barcelona.

'I’m so excited to be going back to Old Trafford in May,' Beckham recently told the BBC. '1999 was such a massive year for us so recreating that moment is going to be really special.

'To be back together as a squad and to be managed by the boss again is huge. Huge for us and for the fans; I can’t wait.'
