Keanu Reeves gets deep discussing death on the Late Show

John Wick action star Keanu Reeves surprised The Late Show host Stephen Colbert and his audience while discussing the topic of death on Friday.

When Colbert asked what Reeves thought happened to people after they die, the evergreen 54-year-old paused before replying: 'I know that the ones who love us will miss us.'

The Beirut-born Canadian's profound response earned him a firm handshake from the 56-year-old ordained minister and an audible 'Awwww' from the previously chuckling audience.

Keanu is no stranger to grief having had a stillborn daughter in 1999 with ex-girlfriend Jennifer Syme, who subsequently died in a 2001 car accident.

And in 1993, Reeves lost his friend River Phoenix, age 23, to a drug overdose after co-starring together in two films - I Love You to Death (1990) and My Own Private Idaho (1991).

Stephen suffered family tragedies in 1974 when he lost his father James and two closest brothers Peter and Paul in a plane crash, as well as in 2013 when his mother Lorna died
