While North Korea or Iran may attempt to shield their equipment, U.S. officials doubt that would be effective against CHAMP. The project has been advancing secretly ever since the Air Force successfully tested a missile equipped with high-powered microwave energy in 2012.

The black-and-white photographs show troops from 25th Battalion of the Suffolk Regiment carrying out their day-to-day duties while their colleagues in the British Army fight overseas in mainland Europe. The collection, which also shows the men larking about for the camera during their downtime together (inset), was collated by a Sergeant Gerrard, of 25th Battalion, who patrolled the beaches of Suffolk during 1914 and 1915. In one image, the band of cyclists line up in formation, while another extraordinary snap shows two soldiers holding guns posing next to a giant mine on Walberswick beach (shown right).

Do you see the light? Image of Christ-like figure is spotted in the sky in Argentina

A shining image of a Christ-like figure appearing through the clouds over San Salvador de Jejuy in Argentina has drawn comparisons to the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Monica Aramayo used her phone to capture the white of the sun lighting up the sky and a figure appearing with his arms outstretched. The fervently Catholic South American country's social media users compared it to the portrayal commonly seen in Renaissance artwork. Not only is the 'head' of the figure clear in the image but a cassock which the saviour was thought to wear appears to flow down to the ground below. Others said the 'head' even appeared to be adorned with a crown of thorns associated with the Crucifixion of Jesus.

This dog clearly needed a few more skateboarding lessons after causing a scene at a park in the city of Xalapa, Mexico. The pet is seen pushing itself along on a board before disaster strikes.

Furious elephant flies into a rage and beats a week-old calf with its trunk when the infant gets in its way - before being scolded itself by another adult

Incredible footage shows a calf being whacked on its backside when it stands too close to a huge adult elephant at the Addo Elephant National Park, on the Eastern Cape of South Africa. As it attempts to get away, the terrified baby runs in front of the furious adult and is thumped again on its backside. The attack finally ends when the elephant runs to the safety of its mother and stands beside her. Another large elephant then appears to tell off attacker when it charges towards it, causing the animal to quickly back away.
