Margaret Qualley looks just like mom Andie MacDowell in stunning photoshoot as she discusses her passion for acting and reveals the advice late Karl Lagerfeld gave her

She stars as the legendary dancer Ann Reinking on FX's Fosse/Verdon, which has garnered her rave reviews.

And Margaret Qualley, 24, youngest daughter of actress Andie MacDowell, 61, opens up about her own transition from dance to acting in a new interview with As If magazine

Qualley, who resembles her screen beauty mother in an accompanying photoshoot for the magazine - reveals she talked to Reinking on the phone every week to prepare for the role and get advice and perspective on the scenes she was doing.

'I really wanted to do right by her,' the Leftovers star told As If. 'I was really fortunate to have had the opportunity.

'They say never meet your heroes because you will be disappointed, but that is not true for me and Ann; she's such a beautiful, generous human being.

'And, I am insecure and self-doubting so to get my weekly pep-talks from Ann helped fuel me!'.

The actress - who also stars in the upcoming Quentin Tarantino movie Once Upon A Time in Hollywood - is a classically trained ballet dancer but says that her good posture worked against her when she dabbled in modelling.

'I didn't model for long, but when I did model I was really fortunate to walk in a couple Chanel shows.

'I had never walked in a show before, but I came from the ballet world so I had very good posture, and a lot of the time models do this thing where they intentionally slouch their shoulders which is not my nature.'

Qualley revealed that it was Chanel's Karl Lagerfeld that taught her how to do the model slouch.

'So, Karl taught me how to stand and walk with hunch my shoulders, which was really wild coming from Karl Lagerfeld.'

But the Native Son actress says modelling just wasn't fulfilling enough for her.

'When I look back at the short time I spent modeling it wasn’t fulfilling for me, so I don’t feel there was much of a crossover for me.

'I'm intrigued by the grayness of acting, storytelling, and character explorations. And with modeling, I was never creatively inspired like I was with ballet and acting.'

Qualley said that she wasn't initially interested in acting for the simple reason that her mother did it.

'My mom is obviously a very talented actress, and she had such a great career, but a lot of times kids don't want do what their parents do because it can add a lot of extra pressures.

'And, for me growing up I didn't have an interest in acting because it was what my mom did; it wasn't until I did an acting class in New York in 11th grade when I fell in love with it.'
