Fans and experts criticize Kylie Jenner's new walnut face scrub before it's even launched - claiming it could TEAR and age the skin

  • Kylie Jenner, 21, releasing her first skincare line on 22 May, expectations are high
  • Line includes a walnut face scrub at $22 (£17) but fans are warning against it
  • They say a walnut face scrub is a terrible idea, as it can cause micro tears in skin

She might be queen supreme when it comes to makeup, but as far as skincare is concerned, Kylie Jenner is failing to convince.

Kylie's soon-to-be-released skincare line KylieSkin has not even launched in the US, but it's already gathering criticism from Twitter users and professionals alike.

The beauty guru's line is set to launch on 22 May, but already one item is concerning fans online - a face scrub that contains walnut, going at $22 (£17).

Kylie advertised the scrub on Twitter and Instagram, where she hailed it as her 'secret to a fresh face,' adding it could be used every day.

But fans and skincare experts hit back, claiming that using a walnut scrub daily can leave micro-tears in the skin, causing premature ageing.

MailOnline has contacted KylieSkin for comment.

But Twitter users were quick to note that walnut is not recommended for facial use, as its texture is too coarse for the thin and delicate layers of skins on the head.

'This kind of exfoliant will cause micro-tears in the skin and make your skin look a lot older than it should,' observed one Twitter user.

'Most walnut powder is made from the walnut shell. So I definitely wouldn't recommend this product unless you want micro-tears. Also assume it is made from walnut shell unless they specifically say it isn't,' wrote another.

'Do no PAY this billionaire your hard earned money so you can tear up your precious faces with tiny bits of walnut. DO NOT,' warned another.

Twitter seemed united in the belief that walnut shell is extremely dangerous for the skin.

Professionals even weighed in, saying the products from the Kylieskin line were a big 'no no.'

'Licensed esthetician here, You should not be exfoliating everyday!!!!! 1x a week MAX!! And walnut will cause micro tears in your skin, using it every day will result in couperose skin (broken capillaries),' explained one.

'Do not buy this product. I've seen multiple aestheticians tell their clients to stay away. This should be obvious,' one wrote, sharing pictures of professionals' Instagram story warning against the products.

'If you're my client you already know my opinion: the answer is NO,' one of them wrote alongside a picture of Kylie.

All products of Kylie's new skincare line will retail for $30 or less.

The beauty mogul previously revealed during the announcement that she had hired a completely new team for her latest business venture.

'KYLIE F***ING SKIN! wow. skincare and makeup go hand in hand and Kylie Skin was something i dreamt up soon after Kylie Cosmetics. I’ve been working on this for what feels like a lifetime so i can’t believe I’m finally announcing!' she captioned.

'Building my makeup line from the ground up has taught me a lot and I’m so blessed with that knowledge to apply to my brand new company! Birthing a whole new team, manufacturing, fulfillment etc separate from my cosmetics line was challenging but here we are!'
