Kelly Osbourne admits giving up drugs and alcohol has revolutionised her life as she prepares to celebrate almost two years of sobriety.

The 34-year old had to take a step back from the entertainment industry and avoid the inevitable temptations that come with fame in order to focus on her recovery after giving up mind altering substances in 2017.

And she admits the decision to live an abstinence based lifestyle has had a dramatic impact on her mental and physical well-being after years of sustained abuse.

Appearing on Thursday’s edition of Lorraine, she said: 'I am [in a great place]. I am almost two years sober and it’s completely changed my life.

'I didn’t think I could do anything if I wasn’t drunk or high, because I was scared of everything. I let it get the better of me.

'Now seeing that I don’t need that and my life is better... I don’t have any drama in my life. I have accepted the fact that- and I know I have said this throughout my whole life but I really understand it now - that I am not perfect and I am never going to be and I don’t want to be.'

Kelly was appearing on the daily breakfast show as she prepares to host the annual LGBT Awards at the Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square on May 17, and the TV personality admitted she was  honoured to have been chosen.

'It’s the only community where I feel like I am home and they have accepted me for the good, the bad and the ugly and liked me at my best and loved me at my worst,' she explained.

'I have learnt so much [from them]. Drag queens taught me how to do my make-up and taught me how to stand more like a lady. It’s such an honour as an ally to lend my voice to something I truly truly believe in and support.

Quite a change: 'I didn’t think I could do anything if I wasn’t drunk or high, because I was scared of everything. I let it get the better of me,' she added

Along with younger brother Jack the TV personality found fame on groundbreaking fly-on-wall reality show The Osbournes.

Ostensibly a show about Black Sabbath singer Ozzy Osbourne's manic home-life in Los Angeles, it made household names of his two children and wife Sharon, who went on to become a well-known star in her own right.

'I can’t believe it’s been 17 years,' she said. 'Everyone [in my family] is so so good. My dad was very sad that I was coming to England for such a long time because I am going to be here for six weeks.

'He was sat on the couch holding my dog, Polly, eating an ice cream, saying, "Please don’t go!" We are so so close.'

However Kelly admitted she was delighted to be back in the United Kingdom, adding: 'I always say, no matter how long I am in America, and I am only there because my family is there, I am British through and through, and I miss being here every single day.'
