A mini Rihanna! Singer names the first ever ambassador for Fenty Beauty, 20-year-old actress and activist Amandla Stenberg - as the brand shares a first stunning campaign image of the star

  • The 31-year-old remains the face of the brand, however Amandla joins Fenty as a new ambassador - the first celebrity to sign up to the beauty label
  • Previously, the majority of campaign imagery has either featured Rihanna herself, or unnamed models, rather than recognizable famous faces
  • The actress, who starred in The Hunger Games and The Hate U Give, said of the brand that it 'makes her feel like herself'
  • Fenty Beauty's announcement of Amandla as its new ambassador comes weeks after it revealed multiple new product launches
  • Fans went wild for the releases, which included a summer-themed makeup line, and a lip scrub and balm, joking that Fenty Beauty was taking all their money

Rihanna's Fenty Beauty brand is continuing to expand with a series of exciting new launches - but this time it's not new products that the label is revealing, but rather its first ever celebrity ambassador.

The 31-year-old's popular beauty brand revealed earlier this week that it has brought on actress and activist Amandla Stenberg as a new campaign star - making her the first famous face to pose for Fenty Beauty other than Rihanna herself.

'Actress and activist Amandla Stenberg joins the #fentyfamily as its newest Fenty Face, where she will be an exclusive ambassador for Fenty Beauty, and seen in social media content and campaign imagery around the world in 2019,' the brand revealed in a statement.

'Rihanna launched Fenty Beauty in 2017 to help “everyone feel beautiful and recognized, no matter their race, ethnicity, culture or personal style,”' the statement continued.

'And in creating the brand, Rihanna created a movement, noting that Fenty Beauty is “more than makeup; it’s a community that supports and uplifts each other”.

'It is this brand ethos that makes Rihanna’s personal selection of Amandla an obvious and fitting choice.'

In the seven years since she landed the role of Rue in The Hunger Games, Amandla has worked on multiple TV and film projects, including taking on the title role in The Hate U Give last year.

However she has also made a name for herself as an outspoken activist for all manner of causes, from fighting sexual inequality and gender discrimination to racism and cultural appropriation.

So it should come as little surprise that Rihanna's brand - which has prided itself on offering a diverse range of shades and products aimed at customers of all shapes, sizes, races, and backgrounds - would enlist the actress to front its newest campaigns.

Speaking about her new role as a #FentyFamily member, Amandla - who shot to fame after starring as Rue in The Hunger Games in 2012 - praised the brand for helping her to feel 'empowered'.

'I wanted to become a part of the Fenty Family because it’s one of the few beauty brands that make me feel like myself! she said.

'Fenty Beauty’s whole ethos makes me feel empowered and excited to let different facets of myself shine.'

The new announcement comes just a few weeks after Rihanna had fans agonizing over their bank balances when she launched not one, but two new Fenty Beauty collections within 24 hours of one another.

Rihanna unveiled a lip balm and lip scrub on the company's official Instagram earlier this month, just one day after proudly revealing a new limited edition summer-themed makeup line and new hand and travel mirrors.

'Get ready to get your lips prepped the #FentyBeauty way!' the brand exclaimed on Instagram, while sharing a saucy image of the singer staring seductively into the camera while applying the balm on her own pout.

Unsurprisingly, the news of a second launch in as many days sent the majority of Fenty Beauty fans into a meltdown, with many confessing that they plan to empty their bank accounts in order to get their hands on every new release.

'My pockets belong to Fenty Beauty,' one person confessed, while sharing several sobbing emojis.

Her sentiment was echoed by dozens of other people in the comments, with a huge number of people begging the brand to 'slow down' and give them time to save some more money.

'Stop please stooooop I’m poor right now,' another chimed in, while one person went as far as to admit: 'I need time to bounce back from the last products I purchased!'

A particularly eager Fenty Beauty lover was then prompted to joke: 'Imma have to start selling feet pics.'

Many other people also shared their suspicions that the launch of a lip balm and lip scrub serves as further evidence that the brand is due to branch out into skincare in the coming months - a rumor that was first started after it was revealed that Rihanna had registered a trademark for Fenty Skin.

'I’m just taking this as confirmation that we will be getting Fenty Skin,' one person commented on the picture of the new products, while another said: 'Oh so are we going to have Fenty Skin care too.'

The launch of the Prokissr Balm - a balm made with shea and mango butters - and the Prokissr Scrub - which is 'packed with apricot seeds to easily exfoliate lips' - comes just 24 hours after Fenty Beauty unveiled a new range of limited edition makeup, while revealing that Rihanna has secretly been wearing the rainbow-hued range for over a year.

The actress and singer shared a sultry snap to promote her new collection, which is aptly-named Getting Hotter, that sees her modeling a stunning array of pretty pastel eyeliners while flashing a sultry pout at the camera.

'This summer we’re GETTING HOTTER!' the accompanying caption on the Fenty Beauty read.

'We're dropping THREE sets of VIVID EYELINER trios, #BAECAE, #BAESIDE, and #BAEWATCH in soft neon effects that glide on in one easy stroke, and #POUTSICLE – 7 bold lip colors in a juicy satin finish.'

But while the launch of the products might have come as a very welcome surprise to Rihanna's fans, they would likely have been all the more shocked to learn that they have already seen the makeup in action on multiple occasions - albeit without knowing.

A spokesperson for Fenty Beauty revealed in a press release that Rihanna has been putting the products to the test since April 2018, when she first rocked a bright pink eyeliner from the Baecae trio at Coachella.

Fast forward just a few months to the Louis Vuitton Menswear Show in Paris in June 2018 and the singer was seen wearing the collection once again, this time in the form of a bold white liner from the same set.

She has even modeled the products on the front cover of a magazine already, opting to use the Getting Hotter collection when she posed for a shoot for the May 2019 issue of Harper's Bazaar, which was released last month.

The image used focused only on Rihnna's eye, which was decorated with a beautiful myriad of bright colors - all of which, it turns out, were products from the collection.

According to a statement made by the brand, the Getting Hotter range, which were released on May 10, is inspired by the scorching hot days of summer - with the eyeliners offering beauty fans a chance to translate the fun and excitement of the season into their makeup look.

Meanwhile, the Poutsicle lipsticks are intended to give wearers the look of someone whose lips have been stained by a deliciously icy treat.

'This summer, scorch ‘em with this new limited edition collection inspired by sizzling summer days that melt into one another,' the brand said. 'Quench your thirst for mouthwatering color. Poutsicle Juicy Satin Lipstick ”hugs” your lips in bold, luscious color and a juicy satin finish that makes your pout pop. In seven hyper-vivid shades Poutsicle comes in an irresistible range of hues for all skin tones to show off.

'Or, blaze a new trail with Vivid Liquid Eyeliner Trios. With super smooth precision and glide, these liquid eyeliners deliver soft neon effects that work for everyone —  tropical pops (Baeside), chic pastels (Baecae), or vibrant bolds (Baewatch).'

And as if the Getting Hotter collection wasn't enough for one day, just minutes after it was unveiled, the Fenty Beauty account announced the immediate launch of two new mirrors - a travel version and a hand-end model.

In keeping with the rest of the sleek Fenty Beauty packaging, the mirrors are very minimal, and feature a pale pink handle and frame around an octagon-shaped looking glass.

The new launches were met with delight from Fenty Beauty fans on Instagram, and the brand's post was quickly flooded with praise from overjoyed commenters.

'Warn us ahead of time mom, it's too spicy in here,' one person joked, while another chimed in: 'Super excited for this!'

Rihanna's most dedicated followers were right to be bowled over by the collection - particularly as the news of its launch came just hours after Rihanna unveiled a new Savage x Fenty lingerie range.

'Ready for the midnight May drop? Don't sleep on the new @savagexfenty. Get it May 1st!' she wrote on Instagram, while sharing an image of herself modeling designs from the new line.
