Cannes is famed for its balmy climate and chic style – but you wouldn’t have thought so yesterday, when Helen Mirren was snapped wandering along under an umbrella while carrying a very down-to-earth cup of tea.
As everyone else squeezed themselves into flash frocks for film festival photos, Dame Helen, 73, opted for a comfy cream sweater and white trainers, while sipping elegantly from a cup and saucer.
Seems a cuppa really does make everything better!

Russell Brand’s mutt is in the dog house again.
Last year the comedian, 43, had to give gifts to a farmer after the alsatian, called Bear, mauled a sheep that then had to be put down.
Now Bear’s running amok closer to home – killing Russell’s own livestock.
‘I’ve got chickens in my garden. One by one, slowly, my dog’s eliminating the gift of life. It’s a terrible feeling,’ he said.
