Niki Lauda, who won the F1 drivers' championship in 1975 and 1977 with Ferrari and again in 1984 with McLaren, passed away on Monday - eight months after undergoing a lung transplant. He was considered one of the sport's greatest ever drivers and in 1976 was badly burned when he crashed during the German Grand Prix, but made an astonishingly fast return to racing just six weeks later. In a statement, his family said: 'With deep sadness, we announce that our beloved Niki has peacefully passed away with his family on Monday,' his family said in a statement.
Briton who was once world's fattest man is moving back to the UK from America so he can claim benefits again after redoubling in size back to 35st despite gastric band surgery
Paul Mason (pictured), 59, was 70 stone (980lb) at his heaviest and once branded himself the heaviest person on the planet. He moved to Massachusetts, USA, in 2014, where he ballooned in size from 19 stone (275lb) to 35 stone (500lb) despite having gastric band surgery. After being charged with stealing from supermarket Walmart and splitting from his fiancee, Mr Mason (pictured in 2013, right and 2017 as part of a documentary, left) has told his followers he plans to return to Britain to 'get his life back on track'. He wrote today: 'I need to return to the UK where I will be eligible for the assistance I need to get my life back on track.'
That's a bit rich! Divorcee, 50, who fought her ex tooth and nail for a £90m share of his £150m fortune then built a property empire with her new lover now won't hand over a penny after they split - and is suing HIM for £7m
Speaking exclusively to the Mail this week former Chelsea-based nutritionist and neuromuscular expert Hamish Hurley (bottom left) accused his former lover’s legal team of ‘rewriting our whole relationship’ after claims made in court that he ‘sexually pressurised her and physically abused her’. He says he has around 40,000 WhatsApp messages which prove otherwise. Mandy Gray (centre), on the other hand, is claiming that Hamish has no right to the spoils gathered during their time together despite them being in joint names. There’s the company shares, an Italian villa, a New Zealand sheep farm and four hypercars currently garaged in Switzerland. She has launched an extraordinary legal bid to stop him getting his hands on what she says is all hers. Struggling care worker, 31, inherits £50m National Trust stately home estate after DNA tests prove he's the illegitimate son of aristocratic owner who died last year
Jordan Adlard Rogers, 31, says he had spent several years trying to prove Charles Rogers was his real father while struggling to make ends meet. He had several requests for a test to be done turned away while his father was still alive. But after Charles was found dead in his car on the estate in August last year at the age of 62 a test was finally carried out - and confirmed they were related. And with Charles’ mother and brother also having passed away, Jordan was left as heir to the grand estate. He has now moved into the lavish 1536-acre National Trust Penrose Estate and said he is immersing himself in his new way of life and his newfound family’s history. The Rogers family have lived on the site between Helston and Porthleven in Cornwall for generations, gifting it to the National Trust in 1974 in exchange for a 1,000-year lease to continue living there.

Teacher's dream 300-year-old cottage turned into a nightmare when 12 damaged roof tiles started NINE YEARS of legal wrangles which ended with her being arrested for squatting
Since she bought the cottage in a picturesque Peak District village of Glossop nine years ago, she has been locked in a series of bitter court rows which ended with her being arrested, and now cleared, of squatting. Maths teacher Miss Patel bought the cottage, her first home, in 2010 for £162,500. She spent £30,000 doing it up before moving in to the property three years later. But her problems stated before she even moved in when, during the renovation work, builders were accused of damaging 12 'thackstone' tiles on a neighbouring property.
British marketing manager, 24, visiting girlfriend, 23, in Chicago is locked up for 24 hours, deported then banned from US for life after immigration officials scour his phone and find month-old text saying ‘I am moving to be with you’
Isaac Roblett, 24, from Hastings, East Sussex flew to the Illinois city on April 24 for the trip of a lifetime with American girlfriend Camila Iglesia, 23 (pictured left together). He had been talking about spending three months in the country under an ESTA permit. But when Mr Roblett arrived in the country, immigration officials questioned him about his reasons for travel. They scoured his phone and discovered a text message (right) about 'moving' and feared he may stay in the country long term. Marketing manager Mr Roblett was locked up in a cell for a day and interrogated in a windowless room for an hour and a half. He was deported the next day without seeing Ms Iglesia and is now also banned from visiting the US for life.

The macabre item is being sold along with a death mask (left) of the executioner who died in 1992. Pierrepoint (bottom inset, right) was responsible for the hangings of a number of Nazi war criminals and the last woman executed in the UK, Ruth Ellis. In the book, Pierrepoint details the size of the criminals's necks and the length of the drop to the floor (right).
Incredible footage shows Royal Navy warship the HMS Defender fire a missile four times the speed of sound at an incoming drone in Nato tests off the coast of Scotland
The Portsmouth-based HMS Defender warship practices hitting a fast-moving, low-level target in a fiery test off the coast of Scotland. The ship's senior warfare officer, Lieutenant Commander Daniel Lee, called it a 'rewarding experience'. He said: 'Proving the effectiveness of the Sea Viper system against a more challenging target reassures us in the ability of HMS Defender to deliver on operations as an air defence destroyer.'
Nigel Farage slams 'radicalised Remainers' after he is pelted with MILKSHAKE during European election tour to Newcastle as politicians from BOTH sides slam 'violent and intimidating’ trend
The Brexit Party leader vented fury at his security and 'radicalised Remainers' today after he was splattered with a £5.25 Five Guys banana and salted caramel dairy drink on his European election tour. Mr Farage was heard saying 'how did you not stop that?' as he was bustled away by security as he made the latest stop of his campaign in Newcastle. A 32-year-old-man - identified as Paul Crowther - was arrested on suspicion of common assault and put in handcuffs by police. Mr Farage tweeted afterwards: 'Sadly some remainers have become radicalised, to the extent that normal campaigning is becoming impossible.' He later told reporters that the milkshake was 'yobbo flavoured' and he is understood to have made a statement to Northumbria Police.

'I feel their pain, mine took 23 years to build': Rod Stewart donates £10,000 to model railway fans after yobs trash exhibition as fund to help devastated club members reaches £60,000
Sir Rod Stewart (inset top) has donated £10,000 to Market Deeping Model Railway Club in Lincolnshire after replica trains worth thousands of pounds were destroyed by vandals over the weekend (left). Sir Rod called on fellow model railway enthusiasts Roger Daltrey and Jools Holland to follow his example, while more than £60,000 has been raised on a Just Giving site (inset bottom) in less than 24 hours. The act of 'total wanton destruction' left 'grown men in tears' and led to the cancellation of the event at Stamford Welland Academy, which was described as 'looking like a bomb site'. The wreckage has since been cleared so the school could reopen as normal and the club has taken everything salvageable to a storage site. Pictured right is model train enthusiast Paul Andrews with his damaged exhibit.
They asked if I wanted tea and crumpets': British marketing manager, 24, held in Chicago after flying to visit girlfriend says US immigration officials mocked his accent as they quizzed him over text about 'moving to be with her'
Isaac Roblett, 24, from Hastings, East Sussex flew to the Illinois city on April 24 for the trip of a lifetime with American girlfriend Camila Iglesia, 23 (pictured left together). He had been talking about spending three months in the country under an ESTA permit. The Electronic System for Travel Authorisation allows you to stay in the US for up to 90 days without needing a VISA. They cost around £9, and must be applied for at least 72 hours before you travel. But when Mr Roblett arrived in the country, immigration officials questioned him about his reasons for travel. They scoured his phone and discovered a text message about 'moving' (right) and feared he may stay in the country long term. He claims that in reality, he was visiting his girlfriend for their one year anniversary. The couple had met on Tinder as she studied on an exchange at Rose Bruford College of Theatre and Performance in Sidcup, Kent. Mr Roblett is not even allowed to appeal his ban. Describing the reaction of immigration officials as he was informed of it, he said: 'When they told me this so many of the guards were mocking my British accent. They were asking if I wanted tea and crumpets.' The couple are, however, hoping to see each other in the UK next week.
'You're looking very tidy!': The Queen jokes Prince William has 'smartened up' as his wife Kate stunned in an Erdem frock to unveil her Chelsea Flower Show garden - while Sophie Wessex gamely climbs into the treehouse
The Duchess of Cambridge grinned as she greeted the Queen with husband Prince William at the Chelsea Flower show this evening (pictured right). As she approached the couple, Her Majesty quipped: 'You're all looking very tidy,' to which William replied: 'Well, I've smartened up.' Kate, 37, swapped her casual culottes from earlier in the day for an elegant floral Erdem maxi dress as she showcased her Back to Nature garden. Sophie Countess of Wessex clearly couldn't wait to explore Kate's tree house and gamely clambered up the wooden ladder despite wearing heeled wedges (inset).

Kate, 37, got her hands dirty as she joined a group of schoolchildren for a fireside chat (left) and outdoor activities (right and inset) in the Back To Nature Garden, which will be visited by the Queen this evening ahead of its public opening tomorrow. The garden, which Kate hopes will inspire families 'to get outside' and 'enjoy nature', features a tree house, waterfall, rustic den and a campfire as well as tree stumps, stepping stones and a hollow log for children to play on.
'I can't trust him!' Nigel Farage dismisses idea of a Brexit pact with Boris Johnson - saying he voted FOR May's 'appalling' deal
Nigel Farage launched a full-frontal attack on Boris Johnson today - warning he cannot be trusted to keep his promises. The Brexit Party leader flatly rejected the idea of a pact with Mr Johnson if he takes over from Theresa May, pointing out that the former foreign secretary had voted for the PM's deal. Mr Farage also dismissed questions about the sources of funding for his new political outfit, saying rivals were just 'jealous'. The combative comments came as Mr Farage (pictured in Exeter today) pushed on with his frantic campaigning ahead of crucial European elections this week - where the Brexit Party is on track to trample both the Tories and Labour.
Woman's BEST FRIEND is caught on CCTV stealing cash and rifling through her eight-year-old son's wallet - on hidden camera set up after £1,390 went missing from her home
Samantha Robson (right), 39, from Macclesfield, Cheshire, met Tanya Sellars in 2013 when she sought a childminder for her two-year-old son Ewan (also right, now aged nine). The pair became good friends (inset), and Ms Robson eventually trusted Sellars with a key to her house. But at the start of 2017, they noticed money going missing. Self-employed hairdresser Samantha and husband Mark, 38, were so worried about the missing money, they installed CCTV cameras inside their own home. Reviewing the footage in July 2017, they were shocked to discover Sellars using her key to creep inside their home and rifling through their son's wallet in search of cash (left). Sellars received a 21 month suspended sentence at Liverpool Crown Court in March 2018 after pleading guilty to three counts of burglary and one count of theft. She had earlier been found guilty of one further count of burglary in August 2017.
Flight chaos stretches into second day at Manchester Airport with 23 delays and four cancellations after overnight power cut stopped planes refuelling
Engineers have now fixed a fuel issue which grounded dozens of flights yesterday in and out of Manchester Airport. A power failure caused a problem with getting fuel into the jets, leading to many passengers being stranded on the runway, after planes were unable to be refuelled. However, thousands of passengers still faced delays today with 23 delays and four cancellations, after a power cut stopped planes refuelling. In the early hours of this morning Manchester Airport released a statement which said they were expecting the majority of flights to run on time. Passengers were warned to check the status of their flight with individual airlines. This morning passengers were still queuing (left) while some stated they waiting one hour for their baggage (bottom centre/right.)
