Amy Schumer has been criticized on social media after sharing a photo that shows her performing at a stand-up comedy gig just two weeks after giving birth to her first child.
The 37-year-old actress and comedian shared the photo to Instagram on Monday, May 20, and it has since become inundated with comments from people criticizing the new mother for returning to work so soon after having her baby.
Many of the New York native's fans have encouraged her to 'take a break' with several claiming it it 'too soon' for her to return to work after giving birth.

The image, taken by a fellow comic, showed the comedian standing on stage beside the 'comedy cellar' sign as she held a microphone and looked out to the audience.
While many of the comments left on the star's photo were positive, several users pointed out that they thought it was too soon for her to return to work.
One user branded her 'insane' and 'inhumane' for getting back to work just over two weeks since having her child.

'Already???? That's insane!!! And inhumane. Contract or not you need to be allowed at least six weeks for maternity,' she said.
Another user told the comedian she should be lying on her couch wearing a loose dress instead of working.
She said: 'Good grief woman! What the actual eff???? You're supposed to be wearing a mumu and laying on he freakin' sofa!!!'
Another woman said: 'I'm sorry. What?! Didn't you birth a human like five minutes ago?'
Meanwhile, others urged her to 'take a break' from her busy schedule and rest up after having her baby.
'Too soon. Take care [of] yourself,' one user wrote, while another added: 'Like, I can still smell your placenta... take a damn break ffs.'
However, despite the wave of criticism, others have congratulated Amy for going back to work.
One fan of the comedian said: 'Well, way to make the rest of us mommas look bad. Get it girl!!!' Another added: 'That’s incredible. Good on you! Positive vibes to you and your family. Keep it up!'

Responding to writer and producer Molly McNearney, who joked about the 'mom shaming' that was going to come with the post, Amy said she 'always wanted to be mom-shamed'.
Similarly, she responded to journalist Jessica Yellin who said 'I can only imagine what a pump room looks like at a comedy club. Welcome back #rockstar,' saying: 'Every room is a pump room if you put your mind to it.'
The actress also responded to another follower, who said 'you can't keep a good woman down!', as she said: 'Oh no, you can't.'
The new mother gave birth to her first child with husband Chris Fischer, who she married last year, on Sunday, May 5.
She later revealed the name of their son as Gene Attell Fischer.
During her pregnancy, the actress suffered with hyperemesis gravidarum - an acute form of pregnancy-related nausea. Back in November, her bout of the illness became so serious she was hospitalized and had to postpone tour dates in Texas.
Since having her child, the actress has openly shared her experiences with the reality of motherhood.
She shared a photo to Instagram on Friday, May 17 that showed her posing makeup free and wearing two breast pumps.
The caption of the photo read: 'Guys what are we doing tonight? #schumerpump #ootd.'
