Maurizio Sarri is unloved at Chelsea but being eyed by Juventus and Roma back in Italy

SHERIDAN BIRD IN ITALY: Certain philosophies, artforms or rituals are difficult to translate or transfer. They simply don't work outside their place of origin.  Italian singer Vasco Rossi broke the world record for ticket sales when he performed in front of over 225,000 paying fans in Modena in 2017. Yet the 67-year-old rocker would struggle to sell out the Dog and Duck in the UK. That is often the case in sport too. A phenomenon or approach that brought dividends in one territory, stalls in another. This is amply demonstrated by the travails of Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea.

Fans mock sculpture of Manchester United legend George Best

There have been plenty of examples where turning a footballer into a statue hasn't quite worked out and a sculpture of George Best has drawn awful reviews after being unveiled on Wednesday. A statue of the Manchester United legend has been erected outside Windsor Park in Belfast and was presented by Pat Jennings (main image, left) and Gerry Armstrong (main image, right) on what would have been his 73rd birthday. Best, who made over 350 appearances and scored more than 100 goals for the Red Devils, died in 2005 at the age of 59 and his homeland have now attempted to pay tribute to him. But the effort drew some disparaging comments - being linked to the bust of Cristiano Ronaldo that was unveiled at Madeira Airport in 2017 (bottom right).

Chelsea new boy Christian Pulisic insists American players can thrive in the Premier

Arsenal fans joke Chelsea stars have links to Armenia before Europa League final

Arsenal fans have taken to social media to joke that a number of Chelsea players are Armenian so they cannot play in next week's Europa League final. The eagerly anticipated all-English final in Baku descended into farce on Tuesday when Arsenal announced they would not be taking Henrikh Mkhitaryan to the Azerbaijani capital due to safety concerns. The Armenian's safety was a concern because of the dispute between his country and the host nation and, despite receiving assurances aimed at allaying those fears, Mkhitaryan has chosen not to travel to Baku following discussions with the club and his family.

On his France team-mate, he told Marca: 'I can't say what I talk to (Pogba) about, but any great player has a place at Madrid and he is one.'

Lure of Juventus treble could reunite Ronaldo and Mourinho

PETE JENSON: It won’t all be playing sailing if Cristiano Ronaldo and Jose Mourinho get back together – it certainly never was before – but Ronaldo still remembers Mourinho as football’s greatest winner, not the game’s biggest whinger, and that’s why he would back the 56-year-old’s return to management at Juventus as Massimiliano Allegri's replacement. Ronaldo has won five Champions Leagues and yet when he retires he will look back on the 2011-12 La Liga season as one of his greatest achievements. Beating Pep Guardiola’s Barcelona to the title and so knocking the greatest ever Barcelona team off their perch is hard to top and he achieved that arm in arm with his compatriot and manager. Mourinho built the team to suit Ronaldo’s needs. His position on the left of the front three was never up for debate and it was a system that subsequent coaches Carlo Ancelotti and Zinedine Zidane maintained because they accepted it got the best out of the team’s best player.

Inter Milan fans not happy with club's new home kit

Inter Milan unveiled their new kit for the 2019-20 season and it is fair to say that fans are not overly impressed by the design. The Serie A giants have stuck with the club's iconic blue and black colour scheme but have included a bizarre blend of both straight and diagonal stripes on the shirt. It features the typical alternating black and blue horizontal length stripes on the front of the strip but the area that features shirt sponsor Pirelli is set against a number of bizarre diagonal lines.

With Premier League clubs looking to revamp their squads for another campaign, here is a club-by-club guide to every major signing made in the build up the new season.

With Premier League clubs not kicking a ball in anger until August, keep track of all the summer's pre-season friendly fixtures and results with Sportsmail.

Sportsmail will keep you up to date with all the kit releases from every Premier League side throughout the summer as well as give our verdict on each strip's design...

England have had 11 shots at the World Cup and are yet to lift the trophy. They have a brilliant chance to right those wrongs on home soil this summer but could learn plenty from failed campaigns over the years. Here, Sportsmail speaks to a player from each of those tournaments since 1975.

England unveil new kit Joe Root, Jos Buttler and Co will wear as they bid to win World Cup

England have revealed the kit they will be wearing as they bid to win the ODI World Cup on home soil. The New Balance design was modelled by the likes of Joe Root, Jos Buttler and Co ahead of the tournament's first game against South Africa next Thursday. It features a powder blue style in a nod to the kit England wore for the 1992 World Cup when they reached the final, ultimately losing to Pakistan by 22 runs. No doubt the players and expectant public will hope England can go one better this summer. The shirt can be buttoned up, features a navy blue collar and a navy trim around the base of the sleeves, as well as thin red stripes across the chest.

We were very, very close and what has happened is in some ways a terrible thing. But in others it is a blessing because he had been in bad shape for some time. The last few months were torture.

Man United's legendary kit man Albert Morgan on club's famous Treble triumph

CHRIS WHEELER: When Manchester United left Albert Morgan in charge of the trophies at the end of an open-top bus parade through the city to celebrate the Treble in 1999, he did what any kit man probably would do. 'I left them in the laundry,' says Morgan, who returned to Old Trafford on the deserted bus before dumping three of the most famous cups in world football with the dirty kit from United's win over Bayern Munich. 'Just me with the trophies. I put everything back in the laundry and was glad to get home.'

OBITUARY BY JONATHAN McEVOY: The Austrian died eight months after lung transplant surgery that was the belated result of German Grand Prix at which his Ferrari burst into flames.

This is not only the best World Cup squad England have ever had, it's probably their best ever one-day squad. It is, in particular, a quite phenomenal batting unit.

JOE BERNSTEIN: Why has it come to this for Sane, whose electrifying pace and cool image were a win-win for City on and off the pitch when he joined from Schalke for £37million in 2016?
