'I didn't know how to talk about it:' Example reveals hidden heartache after his model wife Erin McNaught suffered a miscarriage
Example has opened up about his hidden heartache after his wife Erin McNaught suffered a miscarriage in 2016.
The rapper, 35 - who raises two sons, Evander, three, and Ennio, six months, with the Australian model - explained he 'didn't know how to talk' about his devastation and struggled to cope with his loss in the wake of the tragedy.
The Kickstarts hitmaker, real name Elliot John Gleave, urged other men to speak out about their own mental health struggles as he appeared on ITV1's Lorraine on Friday morning.

The musician told show host Lorraine Kelly he struggled to cope with his grief as no one in his family had miscarried before, instead falling into the assumption that he needed to be strong for the sake of his wife.
He said: 'It's that old-fashioned ideal that men should be tougher and not show their emotions and it's what leads us down the path of male suicide.
'I didn't know how to talk about it no one in my family had lost one, you realise it's just about opening up, you just want to put all your time and effort into your Mrs.
'It really is about speaking to everybody about it, it's so common. Whether the couple's together or not it's important to reach out.'

The couple tied the knot in Australia in May 2013 and welcomed Evander the following year in December 2014.
Second son Ennio came along in September 2017, and Example revealed it was in the fog of new baby exhaustion in which he found the inspiration for his latest album.
He said: 'I haven't had a hit since like 2014, the hits were nice, and in the last four years even though I've been gigging loads of people think I'm semi-retired.
'Then I got married and I found it really hard to write music because all my songs are about break-ups or depression.'

Back to business: The Brit-award nominated star admitted that since marrying Erin in 2013, he struggled to write new songs as all his previous hits were based on 'break-ups or depression'
He added: 'People think I'm such a geezer, and I'm on a beach in Australia trying to relate it to a dirty rave in London.
'But when I had my second baby, I was in the studio, that dreamlike state you're in for the first month, it feels like jet lag and I just came up with all these amazing ideas.'
Example added that since working on his music he has been jetting back and forth from London to Australia, where his wife and children are based.
He said: 'We don't have any nannies at home, all my family and friends are in Australia even my parents!
'It is really tough and we don’t get much quality time as a couple at the moment, but we will. It's a circus especially flying back on a 24-hour flight with a three-year-old and a six-month-old.
‘I remember with the jet lag we had one waking up at 11pm and one at 2am, we were like flatmates meeting in the hallway!'

Despite the jet lag, he enjoys the bubble of a 24 hour flight.
'No one can access you on the flight, I leave the Mrs and the kids in Oz, and can catch up on the movies or watch the whole of Black Mirror,' he said. 'Two kids is so tiring that the flight is actually the time off.'
Lorraine also revealed that she got an unexpected mention in one of Example's most recent tracks, with 2015's Whisky Story featuring the lyric: 'She lies here on the sofa every morning like Lorraine.'
Chatting about the story behind the song he said: 'We shot the video in one take on the tube.
'I was thinking about when you wake up at a house party and there's always someone sleeping on the sofa, and it came to me who's on the sofa every morning!'
The rapper also dropped a major hint that he's set to perform at Ed Sheeran's wedding to childhood friend Cherry Seaborn later this year.
When Lorraine quizzed him on whether rumours were true, he said: 'I'm not sure if I'm allowed to say!'
