Happy families: Tom Daley and husband Dustin Lance Black step out with son Robbie for the first time since furious row with British Swimming after his BUGGY was banned from pool

  • Tom Daley's husband accused British Swimming of corruption in explosive rant
  • Dustin Lance Black and their son missed Daley win gold at Diving World Series
  • Black and son Robbie weren't allowed onto spectator concourse with a buggy
  • Black said organisers have 'created an unsafe and toxic environment' for them

Tom Daley and his husband Dustin Lance Black stepped out for a stroll in the sunshine with their baby son Robbie on Monday to start the week with a spot of breakfast.

The appearance marks the first time the couple has been seen after Tom won his latest British gold medal at the weekend - which Dustin, 44, missed out on because the organisers at the Diving World series wouldn't let him bring Robbie's buggy onto the viewing platform.

After Tom - who is celebrating his 25th birthday on Tuesday - dived to victory, Dustin slammed British Swimming for being corrupt.

The pair looked casual as they wheeled the buggy in question through the London street, with Dustin clad in a cream sweater and skinny black jeans and Tom dressed in a black shirt and checked slacks.

Following the incident at the weekend, Dustin declared that British Swimming had created a 'toxic environment that is unsafe for their family' in an extraordinary rant on social media.

Both father and son missed watching Tom claim gold alongside Grace Reid in the mixed synchro competition at London's Aquatic Centre on Sunday.

The American screenwriter took to Twitter to voice his outrage at being unable to watch his husband's victory with his son, who they welcomed via a surrogate last year.

He wrote: 'We are so proud of him! Wanted more than anything to be there, but some rather cruel, thoughtless British Swimming organisers have created a situation that is neither safe nor welcoming for our family.

'British Swimming, it's time you start treating families how other nations do: as assets, not obstacles.

'Sadly, organisers have succeeded in creating a toxic environment for our family at their events so we couldn't be there in person.'

He followed up on Monday by alleging British Swimming had 'lied' about the circumstances of an attempted resolution.

He wrote: 'So we agreed over the weekend to resolve our dispute with British Swimming in private, and within the hour the CEO put out a press release that is an absolute misrepresentation of what occurred. Or as my mom would call it: a lie. This organisation is corrupt.'

British Swimming responded by insisting they were only supporting the London Aquatic Centre's policies and that efforts were made to resolve the situation.

In a statement, they said: 'British Swimming is extremely disappointed that Tom’s husband felt that he couldn’t be at the London Aquatic Centre to support Tom.

'The London Aquatic Centre’s policy is not to allow buggies onto the spectator concourse for health and safety reasons and British Swimming supported this policy to ensure the safety of everyone attending this exciting event.

'British Swimming recognises the fundamental part that families play in supporting all of the athletes and offered to put measures in place to store the buggy during the event so that Tom’s family could be present. We were pleased to see some of Tom’s family there last night celebrating his success.'

Dustin hinted this weekend that the couple could well adopt a child next.

Robbie was born in June 2018 via an American surrogate and his fathers have always been open about wanting a large family and ensuring their son has siblings.

Dustin told the Daily Mirror at the British Podcast Awards: 'I would consider adopting.'

The Oscar-winner went home from the ceremony in London with the Best Family Podcast prize for his Surrogacy: A Family Frontier series; and the filmmaker hinted that the trophy would be joining his Oscar statuette in the guest toilet at his and Tom's home.

Dustin - who won the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay for Milk at the 2009 Academy Awards - said: 'That's [the Oscar] in the guest toilet. The guests can practice their speeches.'

Dustin previously admitted he and Tom want to have a large family because they have both lost loved ones quite early in their adult lives.

Speaking last year, he said: 'We looked at many different options at the beginning. But I think it became clear we wanted a biological connection to our first born.

'Who knows where we are going to go from here! It takes 11 to make up a full football team right? Tom has lost his father, I had lost my mom and brother and you start to yearn for that connection that goes from your past to your future, and surrogacy was one of the ways we could do it.

'We decided to go to America after we did our research.'
