James Corden's Reddit 'ask me anything' backfires as fans brand him a 'rude, a**hole c***' and accuse him of advocating lower wages for writers

James Corden joined director Ben Whiston and five members of Carpool Karaoke staff to make a surprise appearance on Reddit's AMA thread on Tuesday to promote a special edition of his show.
But the plan massively backfired when James, 40, was attacked by fans on the thread, who called him names such as 'rude, a**hole c***' and asked when former host Craig Ferguson would be returning to replace him on The Late Late Show.
It appears as though James was only able to answer three questions before he and his team bowed out of the conversation as he was brutally roasting with more than 700 comments, most of which were negative.

He was also accused by one person of 'allegedly showed up to a WGA [Writer's Guild Of America] union meeting for late night writers with an executive producer and none of the writing staff.'
The person accused him of advocating less pay for new writers: 'with the supposed justification being that it was so he could afford to hire writing assistants.'
However, James had previously denied such accusations on Twitter.

Producer Jack Allison tweeted on April 16: 'I’d like to state once again for the record that I went to a WGA] meeting for only late night writers, and James Corden showed up without any of his staffers to advocate for a lower pay grade for late night writers.'
James responded: 'Jack, I went to the meeting because I was invited, like you were, like every writer on my show was.
'What you’ve written here is completely untrue. I asked if there could be a new writers programme for people who have interned for a year on a show and want to be writers.

It's really him: James proved it was him on the site with this tweet - he also held up a sign quoting Reddit and shared it on social media
'I stated that it’s incredibly difficult on a show to give new writers opportunity with so many brilliant established writers and not many spaces.
'I also said this could be a new writers programme and shows couldn’t exploit this and would have to give a minimum of 1 full promotion a year.
'Trying to help is disappointing to me to say the least.I would never ever want to pay a writer less than they deserve. Never.
'I love every writer on my show and all I ever wanted from that meeting was to explore whether talented people could get a better opportunity.

The flip-side: Some people had some sensible questions, but not many of them did

Meanwhile, some people did offer genuinely nice and interesting questions about the show, such as: 'Who was your least favorite Carpool Karaoke guest, and why was it Mariah Carey?'
