'Cardi was overzealous in getting back to work, she didn't take the time necessary to fully recover from her surgery. Her strenuous schedule has taken a toll on her body and she has been given strict doctors orders to pull out of the rest of her performances in May,' read a statement from her representative, posted on E!.
'She's very disappointed as she hates to let her fans down. She reassures them that she will see them in September,' the statement continued.
Sources have told TMZ Cardi's complications have gotten to the point where she can't perform, and doctors are encouraging her to take a couple of weeks off in order to fully recover and to allow swelling to go down.

WHAT DOES PLASTIC SURGERY RECOVERY LOOK LIKE?
Cardi B has canceled her Memorial Day concerts as she recovers from a breast augmentation and liposuction, which she got done in early May.
Liposuction is the removal of fat cells, usually from the waist, back and thighs, for a slimming effect.
Recovery tends to take about two weeks.
Afterwards, patients may experience bruising, swelling and discomfort.
That tends to pass within a few days.
For some, it takes longer depending on how extensive their surgery was - or rather, how much fat was taken out.
Breast augmentations vary depending on what type it is, and it's unclear in Cardi B's case.
The singer could have got a fat transfer, or implants.
Fat transfer takes about four weeks to recover, while implants take about six weeks.
But Cardi doesn't seem to have let her recent surgeries stop her from performing, with shows in Miami and Los Angeles earlier this month.
On Sunday she even posted a video of herself dancing along to her music.
Sources have told TMZ the surgeries are beginning to catch up to her, resulting in the doctor's orders for rest and recovery.
Cardi revealed her post-baby surgeries just a few weeks ago.
'I just got my boobs redone,' the singer, who welcomed daughter Kulture with husband Offset last year, told Entertainment Tonight.
'I feel good, but then sometimes I feel like not, you know? [When] your skin is stretched out.'

At a concert earlier this month, Cardi revealed to the crowd she had undergone liposuction.
'I have some news for y'all. I should have canceled today,' she said to the audience at the Beale Street Music Festival, according to People.
'I shouldn't really be performing because moving too much is gonna f*** up my lipo. But b***h I'm still gonna get my mother***ing money back, let's go!' she added.
Cardi has previously spoken about her rapid weight loss.
She told her Instagram followers in November: 'I've been very depressed because I cannot stop losing weight. And it's so crazy because when I first gave birth, I did everything to lose my baby weight. I was drinking Teami [tea] so it could curb my appetite and now that I lost all the baby weight... I don't like looking too skinny.'
