Britain's Got Talent spin-off show The Champions will 'only pay for stars expenses to appear... leaving some contestants furious'

Britain's Got Talent's spin-off show The Champions will reportedly only pay for contestant's expenses, which has allegedly left some acts furious.

The show will see former champions, finalists and contestants compete for the BGT Champions of Champions title, but according to The Mirror they're not being offered a performance fee, which a source claimed was 'insulting' to some.

Speaking to the publication on Thursday, the source claimed: 'Many of the BGT winners are highly sought after but they are just being offered expenses, which some find insulting.

'These aren’t unknowns, they are experienced performers who have carved out very profitable careers since.

'Many feel they can’t turn down the show as it gave them such a platform in the first place – but it’s put a few noses out of joint to say the least.'

Despite the source's claim, a show insider told MailOnline that it was entirely 'normal and appropriate' for the contestants to only be given money for expenses.

Adding that no contestants have complained, they explained: 'The show will feature both the best of BGT acts and those from other Got Talent shows around the world competing for a cash prize and, most importantly, the honour of being named BGT Champion of Champions.

'Each act will, of course, be paid all expenses which is entirely normal and appropriate for major television shows around the world.

'This is the ultimate celebration of Got Talent and the feedback so far has been that acts can’t wait to take part and show their skills in front of a huge TV audience of millions. Everyone at Got Talent is hugely excited.'

While a spokesperson for Britain’s Got Talent continued: “Britain’s Got Talent is currently averaging almost 10 million viewers per episode once again demonstrating the UK public’s enduring enjoyment of the show – for which the whole Got Talent family are incredibly grateful.

'As a result, for now, everyone is focusing on making next week’s live shows as entertaining and exciting as possible for the watching audience at home.'

Susan Boyle is reportedly in talks to star in the show, and the Glasgow-born singer is allegedly set to join 2012 winner Ashleigh Butler.

Hosted by dynamic duo Ant and Dec, the popular talent show is the creation of TV mogul Simon Cowell following the success of its American version.

Susan, who first burst onto the scene in 2009 with her extraordinary version of I Dreamed A Dream, reportedly made quite the impression on Cowell after reaching the final 12 in America’s Got Talent: The Champions.

As preparations for the UK version of the show are said to be underway, the singer will soon be able to share her talent once more with the British public.

Despite losing to dance group Diversity, the singer's entry into the all-star competition may give her yet another shot at achieving the Britain's Got Talent title.

Meanwhile dog-lover Ashleigh, whose dog Pudsey won the hearts of the nation with his flair for music and dance, is also in talks to appear on the new show.

Despite her dancing partner Pudsey passing away in 2017, Ashleigh's new border collie Sully will join the 2012 winner for the human-dog dancing double act.
