Gwyneth's routine began when she landed in NYC from Boston the night before. She decided to use Goop's 'The Martini' Emotional Detox Bath Soak ($35) in a bath for a relaxing soak ahead of a busy day.

The mixture contains Himilayan pink salt and chia seeds, which work together to help relax the body after a long day.

'I'd had a crazy day of meetings and flights and dinner, so I needed this bath,' Gwyneth explained. 'I take a bath every night, but I especially love "The Martini" when I've got a big event the next day. It's got five kinds of salt in it, amazing essential oils. It's just epic.'

Her nighttime routine before the event also included using Goop's Goopglow 15% Glycoloic Overnight Glow Peel ($125) on the skin.

The chemical peel works on the skin overnight to brighten the complexion and rid the face of any unwanted texture.

'It takes three seconds, and there's nothing like the glow you get the next day,' Gwyneth said about applying the peel.

'I knew for the Met I was going to be wearing more makeup than I usually do — the plan was to go a little more intense with eyeliner— so feeling great about my skin was especially important,' she continued. 'I think the more makeup you're wearing, the more you want your natural glow to shine through.'

The morning of the Met Gala started for Gwyneth with a cup filled with Goop's Goopglow Morning Skin Superpowder ($60). The concoction contains grape-seed proanthocyanidins, vitamins C and E, and CoQ10 — and it apparently works to protect the skin against oxidative photo-damage.

'My skin can get dry, and this stuff is super nourishing,' she said about the serum.

Prepping for the Met Gala with makeup and hair officially started for Gwyneth around lunchtime.

Her makeup artist gave Gwyneth a subtle smokey eye to pair with her glowing skin for the event. The artist used a combination of the Jillian Dempsey Khol Eyeliner pencil ($20) with Juice Beauty's Phyto-Pigments Liquid Line & Define liner ($24).

The pencil was first applied and smudged to blend the line before the liquid liner went over it.

For her eyelids, Kjaer Weis eye shadow ($45) in shade Grace - a very subtle taupe shade - was applied to the lid before adorning the eyelashes with mascara.

Gwyneth's look was completed with a little color on her cheeks and a pink balm for the lips.

She also sprayed herself with Goop's Eau De Parfum: Edition 02 - Shiso ($165).

'The dress is pure springtime, and this scent is so spring to me,' Gwyneth said about the perfume she paired with the look. 'It has that feeling of crushed leaves and stems, with a bit of earthy forest floor. I love it.'

The actress stunned on the red carpet in her springtime look for the Camp-themed gala this year. She paired the yellow dress with orange chandelier earrings.

Once the evening was over, Gwyneth wound down by taking another bath using the same salts she used the previous night.

'I can’t help myself,' she said. 'And this one was a long one.'
