XXXTentacion, who's real name is Jahseh Dwayne Onfrey, was fatally shot as he left a motorcycle dealership in Deerfield Beach, Florida.
Authorities said the rapper's death 'appears to be a possible robbery', since a Louis Vuitton bag was stolen from his sports car as he lay dying.
But sources close to the rapper's family told The Blast that they believe he was intentionally targeted.
'This was not random,' one of the sources said.
Ayala also shared a hand-drawn photo on Instagram that appeared to show both her and XXXTentacion's faces and wrote in the caption that she 'wanted to scream at the top of my lungs until I ca't then keep screaming'

XXXTentacion had been at RIVA Motorsports checking out inventory, sheriff's public information officer Keyla Concepcion said.
He was in a black BMW i8 and preparing to leave before 4pm when two armed suspects approached him.
At least one of them fired, and then both suspects fled the scene in a dark SUV, Concepcion said.
Deputies are continuing to search for the two suspects in the fatal shooting.
Ayala detailed the alleged abuse she suffered at the hands of XXXTentacion, saying he once 'punched, slapped, elbowed, strangled, and head-butted' her for 15 minutes straight
XXXTentacion's death has also brought back to light the horrifying allegations of his abuse against Ayala.
The pair first met in November 2014 and quickly hit it off. But they fell out of touch and didn't see each other again for 18 months, when XXXTentacion spotted Ayala in the crowd of one his shows.
That night he asked her to move in with him and Ayala accepted. But things almost immediately took a turn for the worst.
Donations have poured into a GoFundMe Ayala created in October 2016 after one of the rapper's alleged beatings, which she said left her eye leaking (pictured)
Just two weeks after she moved in, XXXTentacion allegedly grabbed Ayala's phone and smashed it on the floor before striking her in the face. It was punishment for admiring her male friend's grills in a Snapchat video.
'I got slapped for no reason,' Ayala told the Miami New Times. 'And he kept acting like everything was cool.'
She said he hit her again later that day, allegedly slapping her so hard that she became lightheaded.
Then the rapper returned to the room with a barbecue fork and a wire barbecue brush and asked her: 'Which one do you want me to use?'
'He told me to pick between the two, because he was going to put one of them up my vagina,' she said during a deposition given to a prosecutor seven months later.
Alaya said the beatings only got worse when the couple moved to Orlando in June 2016.
She told prosecutors that XXXTentacion beat hear every three to four days, choking her, pressing knives or scissors to her face, holding her head under water in the bathroom and promising to drown her.
'His favorite thing was just to backhand my mouth,' she told the Miami New Times. 'That always left welts inside my lips.'
Talyssa Lee, who was dating one of XXXTentacion's producers, said she noticed the bruises on Ayala immediately.

'It was clear that he was avoiding her face,' Lee said. 'He was hitting her under the chin, on her back - her ribs were all bruised up.'
Lee recalled one incident in which she could hear Ayala screaming in the next room, 'her voice gurgling because she's being held underwater'.
Things came to a head on the morning of October 6, 2016. The couple had recently found out Ayala was pregnant and XXXTentacion was happy with the news.
But that day he allegedly threatened to kill her and their unborn child.
For 15 minutes, XXXTentacion allegedly 'punched, slapped, elbowed, strangled, and head-butted' Ayala.
Ayala said her eyes were leaking and she began to lose her vision as she started to vomit. But XXXTentacion forbade their roommates from taking her to the hospital.
Instead he left her in a room for two days. She escaped while pretending to make him something to eat, running out of an open side door in the kitchen.
XXXTentacion was arrested the next day and charged with aggravated battery on a pregnant victim, domestic battery by strangulation, false imprisonment, and witness tampering.

Meanwhile, Ayala created a GoFundMe campaign that month to help her pay for the medical bills from the injuries of the alleged beating.
Ayala posted a photo of her bruised and bleeding eye, revealing she had two fractures in her left eye socket 'due to an aggressive hit' as well as nose and jaw fractures.

'Since the bones are fractured they're piercing into the back of my eyeball causing damage to an optical nerve and my eye itself,' she wrote on the campaign.
'The left side of my face has lost some sensation, I cannot feel my upper lip on the left side, and same for my upper teeth on the left side.'
'As for my left eye's vision, it's diminishing as the days go by. It's crucial I get surgery otherwise my eyeball will die and the nerve connecting my lip/cheek and teeth will eventually die as well.'
Ayala received $12,000 earlier this month when she identified herself as XXXTentacion's alleged victim in the Miami New Times piece.
The GoFundMe campaign has since raised more than $32,000.
J David Bogenshutz, XXXTentacion's attorney, told People that the rapper was charged with 'some things that we simply do not believe he did [and] some things are closer to the truth'.
Bogenschutz said the rapper was in the 'process of reaching a resolution' on the abuse charges 'that would have permitted him to go on with his life and career'.
