Mandy Moore shares amazingly scenic photos from her 'bucket list dream' hike around Mount Everest

She's not climbing the iconic mountain, but she is getting within reach of its perilous peak.

And Mandy Moore shared some dramatic photos of her trip to the base camp at Mount Everest on Friday.

The 35-year-old actress and singer was making the trek to support The Juniper Fund, a non-profit fighting for the rights of Nepali locals who assist Everest expeditions, often risking injury and even death.

Mandy started her trip on Sunday, and she has been posting incredible images from the trip ever since.

A series of photos posted to Instagram on Tuesday showed the This Is Us star and her fellow hikers as they arrived at the terraced village of Namche.

'I went into this Everest viewing trek relatively blind. Not unprepared, mind you...but I wanted to venture forward into the unknown with an open mind and heart and as free of expectations as possible,' she wrote.

'Once we arrived in Kathmandu and had our de-brief about what the next 10 days of our life we’re going to look like, it became abundantly clear that this experience was going to be one of physical discomfort, personal challenge AND fundamental spiritual growth. Sign me up.

'In addition to living out this bucket list dream, being gently placed in this middle of this extraordinary country of Nepal and bearing witness to the customs and culture of the Sherpa people has been spellbinding. So much to take in, in every way.'

The Candy singer stressed in another post that her group isn't trying to summit Everest — just to reach the more manageable base camp.

'If all goes well, we will have completed what is only 1/6 of the entire trip for someone who actually climbs (8 weeks total).'

By comparison, her journey to the base camp will take less than two weeks.

Mandy and her companions stopped in the village for two days to acclimate to the altitude before heading up to the camp.

On Friday, she shared pictures from a meeting with families of workers in the local Everest tourism industry who were killed while leading expeditions up the mountain.

The surviving family members were the beneficiaries of financial support and vocational training from the Juniper Foundation.

Current weather conditions at the so-called 'death zone' near the peak of Mount Everest have led to an unprecedented build-up of climbers waiting to reach the top.

Nine people have died there since last week, more than all of 2018.

Mandy spoke with People magazine earlier this month, in anticipation of her Everest journey.

The trip was perfectly timed, as she's currently on hiatus from her hit NBC prime time soap opera This Is Us.

She was joined by her husband Taylor Goldsmith for the intense journey.

Despite the estimated ten days it would take to reach the base camp (and more than ten to return), she insisted she wasn't nervous about the adventure.

'I'm very excited,' she said. 'It doesn't scare me. It's invigorating! The moments that you push yourself out of my comfort zone are so fulfilling and nourishing.'

Mandy admitted hiking has been 'part of the connective tissue in my life for so long,' but she has recently become more adventurous after discovering her 'inner mountain girl' on a trip to Mount Kilimanjaro last year.

Heat it up like Mandy in a orange coat by Eddie Bauer

Mandy was beaming in New Zealand following the completion of her 'Why I Hike' campaign with Eddie Bauer, as she was seen sporting an EB down jacket outdoors.

The 'This is Us' television star looked red-hot in this bright pimento-colored outdoor coat, assuming it fared well to keep her protected from the elements.

We love this choice in coat because it means our outdoor-activity outfits don't need to be drab. While settling for a traditional structure, the star opted for a non-traditional colorway to sport on her trip. This one in particular boasts a 'weatheredge pro' shell which is ideal for extreme conditions, as well as being designed to fit perfectly over mid-weight layers.

Why not take a hike like Mandy in a bright athletic coat? You can buy this one directly from Eddie Bauer for a cool $500, or peruse the carousel below to get a perfect fit for your next outdoor adventure. We love the Invicta choice!

'That trip really solidified things for me,' she said. 'I discovered my inner mountain girl!'

The Everest trek will be lead by Mandy's friend Melissa Arnot, an Eddie Bauer Alpine guide who she met last year and teamed up with last month on a hike in New Zealand.

And the guide appreciates her new pal's 'really good attitude' on their trips.

'She has a passion for the outdoors and really pushing herself,' Melissa said. 'And she's so open and generous. That's a really enjoyable person to travel with.'

Mandy's husband Taylor Goldsmith also came on the New Zealand trip after his wife introduced him to her passion shortly after they got married last year.

'I roped Taylor into hiking,' she said. 'On our honeymoon [in Chile] I was like, "Babe, we're going to hike every day," and he was a really good sport about it. It's a through line in our relationship now. And he totally keeps up!'

Mandy and and Taylor — the frontman for the band Dawes — were married at their home in Los Angeles on Nov. 18.
