Jack Grealish wore battered boots at Wembley and then got cut by the cup. The Aston Villa captain drew attention for his shoddy footwear but explained his choice. 'Well I came back from injury and they were brand new, and then I got a few goals, a few assists,' he said. 'I thought these were my lucky boots so I've had to keep them.'

INTERVIEW BY ADAM CRAFTON: On Wednesday evening in Baku against Arsenal, Eden Hazard will likely play for the final time in a Chelsea shirt. Chelsea will miss him and, in truth, we all will. Arsene Wenger showed he has more than just a brilliant football mind as he accelerated away from former Ballon d'Or winner Zinedine Zidane in a charity match in Bordeaux. The former Arsenal manager, 69, was pictured being tugged back by the Real Madrid manager in a match which pitted former football and rugby stars against each other, playing a half of each sport.

Cristiano Ronaldo showcased all of his old tricks as he joined a host of stars in a charity match at the Allianz Stadium on Monday night. The Juventus talisman was accompanied by football legends including Francesco Totti, Pavel Nedved, Andrea Pirlo and Gianluigi Buffon as well as other sports stars including Ferrari trio Charles Le Clerc, Sebastian Vettel and Mick Schumacher. The 'Partita Del Cuore', which translates as to 'match of the heart', was held at Juventus' home ground in support of the Piedmontese Foundation for Cancer Research and for the Telethon Foundation.

Chelsea touched down in Azerbaijan late on Monday night ahead of Wednesday's Europa League final against Arsenal. Manager Maurizio Sarri and his players and staff arrived at Baku International Airport as they get ready for the showpiece occasion against their London rivals. Midfielder N'Golo Kante (left, second from bottom) was amongst the players to travel despite being a doubt to feature in the final owing to a knee injury, as revealed by Sportsmail.

Union Berlin were promoted to the Bundesliga for the first time after a 0-0 draw with VfB Stuttgart in the second leg of their relegation/promotion playoff on Monday gave them an away-goals victory after the tie finished 2-2 on aggregate. Union twice hit the post in the 66th and 67th minutes in a very physical encounter, but it was their two goals in the first leg in Stuttgart that secured their spot in the top division next season. Thousands of fans ran on the pitch amid wild celebrations at Stadion An der Alten Forsterei on Monday night. 

MIKE DICKSON AT ROLAND GARROS: After the banning of the catsuit she wore here a year ago Serena Williams was not going to back down when it came to her entrance to the French Open.  She walked on to the court wearing a superhero cape emblazoned with the words (in French): ‘Mother, champion, queen, goddess.’  Underneath it was an outfit featuring black and white zebra stripes.

Torey Krug of the Boston Bruins clearly wasn't about to let a small thing like losing his helmet stop him from delivering a crunching hit in Monday night's opening game of the Stanley Cup Final. After getting his helmet ripped off his head during a tussle with David Perron of the St Louis Blues, Krug raced 150ft across the ice in a rage to smash Robert Thomas. Krug's bone-shuddering hit was the highlight of Boston's 4-2 victory in the first instalment of the best-of-seven contest.

England continued their preparations for their Nations League campaign at St George's Park on Monday. Gareth Southgate's side face the Netherlands in the semi-finals of the competition on June 6. Kyle Walker posed with a plastic shield which was used as a prize for a team challenge.

A since-deleted video emerged on Twitter on Monday with the caption: 'So this is why we lost # Kuznetsov # fm2019'. The clip shows Kuznetsov on Facetime near a table with two lines of a white powdery substance and a rolled up American dollar bill. Despite his proximity to the suspected drug, he doesn't interact with it. On Monday Kuznetsov said the video was shot in Las Vegas during Washington's 2018 Stanley Cup Run and he left the room as soon as he noticed the drugs. He claims he's never used drugs and is willing to be drug tested. The Capitals says they're aware of the video and are currently 'gathering facts'.

PAUL NEWMAN AT THE OVAL: The preparations are almost complete and the waiting is nearly over. England safely negotiated their last hurdle before the World Cup with a crushing victory over Afghanistan at the Oval on Monday and can now look forward with relish to the big one here on Thursday. They will approach their first World Cup game against South Africa in good heart, too, after seemingly overcoming the little cluster of injuries that briefly threatened to inconvenience the hosts and strong tournament favourites.
