Abby Lee Miller reveals how she has changed after being sent to prison and diagnosed with cancer: 'I don't fly off the handle as quickly as I did'

Life experiences can certainly change you. 

And such can be said for Abby Lee Miller, who's admitted to becoming less temperamental following prison time and cancer battle. 

In an interview with Us Weekly, the Dance Moms star spoke of how her life has changed, particularly with her patience.

'I don't think I get that upset over things,' she began. 

'It's hard to deal with the moms, all of that's hard, but I don't fly off the handle as quickly as I did. ...And when the kids don't win, I'm like, "Yeah, but you were great."' 

On her Lifetime show, the dance instructor, who helped birth the careers of stars such as Jojo Siwa and Maddie Siegler, was known for her quick temper. 

An assault lawsuit was allegedly filed against the star in 2014.

In May 2017, the reality star was convicted of bank fraud. She was given a one year and one day prison sentence, followed by a release with supervision, for two years. 

In April of last year, she was diagnosed with cancer, following spinal surgery. She has since been cancer-free for six months. 

Despite her setbacks, she's been given a second chance at life.

 'I feel grateful. I feel alive and thriving when I'm back in the [dance] studio and I get in my zone and I'm just doing my thing.' 

Abby is currently in a wheelchair, but should start walking again 'in three months.'

Despite leaving Dance Moms in March 2017, she has since returned to the franchise that made her famous.
