More than 5 million are left without power in Ohio after tornadoes reduced homes to rubble

More than five million people have been left without power in Ohio alone after 51 tornadoes were reported across eight states overnight. Residents of Idaho, Colorado, Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, Illinois, Indiana and Ohio, are still not in the clear as severe weather is forecast to continue through Tuesday and into Wednesday. A rapid-fire line of apparent tornadoes tore across Indiana and Ohio and were packed so closely together that one crossed the path carved by another. The storms strew debris so thick that at one point, highway crews had to use snowplows to clear an interstate. At least half a dozen communities from eastern Indiana through central Ohio suffered damage, according to the National Weather Service, though authorities working through the night had reported no fatalities as of early Tuesday. Some 5 million people were without power early Tuesday in Ohio alone. Montgomery County Sheriff Rob Streck said that 'there's been no real serious injuries' despite the significant damage in the area.

Family's tribute to Colorado lawyer who became the 11th person to die on Everest in just

Christopher John Kulish, 62, became the 11th person to die descending the world's highest peak in the space of 10 days on Monday, after scaling the 29,035-foot peak from the normal Southeast Ridge route (he is pictured top climbing the mountain). He died suddenly at South Col after his descent and the cause of his death remains unclear. His family said in a touching statement: 'We are heartbroken by the news. Chris, who turned 62 in April, went up with a very small group in nearly ideal weather after the crowds of last week had cleared Everest. He saw his last sunrise from the highest peak on Earth. At that instant, he became a member of the "7Summit Club" having scaled the highest peak on each continent'. This year has been the deadliest for climbers on Mount Everest since 2012, when 10 climbers died. All 11 deaths in 2019 occurred during peak climbing season. Most of the deaths have been attributed to exhaustion and tiredness, exacerbated because a crowded route to and from the summit has led to dangerous delays (the dangerous and long queue to the summit is pictured, bottom).

Seamus Lawless, 39, fell on the 27,000-ft high 'balcony' area of the world's highest mountain early on Thursday. Guides eventually called off their search for the mountaineer.
