Daniel Wright, a former contestant on reality series The Biggest Loser, has passed away from leukemia at the age of 30.  

Wright, who appeared on seasons seven and eight of the hit NBC show, died on Sunday morning.  

Courtney Crozier, who appeared on season 11 of The Biggest Loser, confirmed Wright's passing as she left a touching tribute on Facebook.

'I am so so heartbroken to hear about Daniel Wright this morning. He has fought SO HARD during his battle with cancer and more,' she began.

'This man is one of the kindest people I have ever met and is a true difference maker in this world! His faith has never faded, even in the darkest of times. I am honored to have known him!' 

'Please keep him and his beautiful, amazing, and beyond strong wife Rebecca Wright in your prayers today as he is being called to heaven.'

He relapsed and was diagnosed with a more severe form of leukemia in December 2018.

Wright announced the devastating news on his Facebook, writing: 'Hey everyone! As you may have seen from my beautiful wife, mom, sister, and family and friends we are dealing with relapse.' 

'I began to feel different symptoms last week and after some blood work and a bone marrow biopsy yesterday it's confirmed that my Leukemia has relapsed.' 

'The plan now is in the works but rough estimate was to get me to the University of Iowa Hospital (where I am now), Lord willing achieve remission again, and then pursue a transplant. Many of you have graciously asked to be a donor, we will share more information on that once we know more.' 

'We are still trusting God through this. I was not prepared for this and my heart is quick to be tempted towards anger and bitterness to get through (probably because it feels easier than tears). We will update more as we find out in the coming days.'

'Thank you so much for the prayers and support, we were struggling before but this has a brought a level of hurt we were not ready for,' he continued. 'Thank you for your generosity and willingness to help, pray, and serve us. We are so humbled. Love y'all!' 

A GoFundMe page was set up shortly after Wright was diagnosed, with Crozier sharing the page to encourage fans to help the family pay for his medical bills.   

Just two days before Wright passed away, Rebecca revealed that Wright had been throwing up blood.  

'Yesterday, the Lord broke me down and today because of your prayers and my pleading our Lord has made me warrior strong!! I will let you know when they will be doing the procedure as soon as I know,' she said.

'He is much more alert today but still quite foggy…Man alive this is insane and alone seems impossible but with GOD all things are possible.' 

Joe Mitchell, a contestant on The Biggest Loser season 12, called Wright a 'hero' who 'inspired so many'

'He and his lovely bride showed the whole world what true love, faith and commitment are all about and he will be truly missed,' Mitchell added.   

Danny Cahill, who won the show's eighth season, also shared a touching Facebook tribute of his own upon hearing about Wright's passing. 

'Yesterday the world lost a bit of its light. Daniel Wright and I met for the first time in May of 2009 on the beach in Malibu,' he began. 

'Fifteen of us went to the beach that morning to begin our journey on season 8 of The Biggest Loser.'

The reality contestant was eliminated in the fourth week of the competition, having shed 60 pounds and dropping to 394 pounds in his four weeks on the show.

He returned for the season's live finale, weighing in at 312 pounds and dropping a total of 142 pounds during the entire series.

Wright returned in season eight, where he met Rebecca. She was eliminated in week 10, a week ahead of Wright.

He dropped another 111 pounds to weigh in at the live finale at 201 pounds, while Meyer went from 279 pounds to 140 pounds on the show.
