Superstar Will Smith knows a thing or two about making a grand entrance.

And on Saturday, he had to get creative in order to surprise fans who attended a screening of his new film Aladdin, a live-action adaption of Disney's 1992 animated favorite. 

Smith, who portrays the Genie, crept his way into a movie theater in Calabasas, California when the lights went down, and later when the lights came back up during the closing credits, he stood up to surprise his adoring fans.

The stunt went down after he and wife Jada Pinkett Smith had dinner not too far from the theater.

After slipping in to the cinema unnoticed, the movie star was able to keep himself on the down-low during the show. 

It was all worth it when the audience went into a frenzy when Smith made his big reveal.

Smith was swarmed with people who had just gotten up from their seats who wanted to a selfie or an old-fashioned hug from the A-list movie star.

Dressed in an olive green sweatsuit and wearing his trademark smile, he graciously chatted with fans, shook hands and took photos, just feet from the movie screen.

The superstar was also bombarded by admirers  as he walked out into the theater hallway towards the concession stands.

The Guy Ritchie-directed film has already become a box office hit, raking in $112.7 million in the US and $207 million worldwide in its opening three-day Memorial Day weekend.

Smith told People at the Los Angeles premiere of his film earlier this month that he was 'very proud' of the film. 

The number one [thing] that I am proud of are the additions of the Princess Jasmine character,' he revealed. 

'The idea that her character wants to rule. That her father doesn't have any sons and she doesn't understand why she can't be the next in line to rule the kingdom.'

Aladdin also stars Mena Massoud (Aladdin), Naomi Scott ( Princess Jasmine), Marwan Kenzari ( Jafar), Navid Negahban (The Sultan), Nasim Pedrad (Dalia) and Billy Magnussen (Prince Anders).
