Melania Trump doesn't pack light — and she certainly doesn't pack cheap, either.

The 49-year-old first lady accompanied her husband, President Donald Trump, on a short, four-day trip to Japan over Memorial Day weekend, and brought out the big guns — and the big credit card limits — when it came to her designer wardrobe.

Over the course of the trip, Melania was photographed wearing six different outfits made up of $19,250 worth of clothing — and that doesn't even factor in the cost of her shoes, belts, and jewelry.

The trip kicked off with the president and first lady landing at Haneda international airport in Tokyo on May 25. Upon departing the plane, Melania was photographed wearing a $3,900 Calvin Klein covered with a postcard print.

While the first lady wasn't carrying a purse — and in fact wasn't seen toting one for the duration of the trip — she did accessorize with a brown leather belt, navy Louboutin heels (a similar style is sold for $695), and sunglasses.

Interestingly enough, Melania was also wearing the dress when she departed Washington, D.C. — which wouldn't be all that remarkable if the first lady didn't usually change her outfit mid-flight. However, she seemed to like this particular dress enough to be snapped wearing it both leaving for and arriving in Japan.

But though Melania stuck to a single outfit that day, she would go on to wear multiple looks over the next couple of days.

On Sunday, May 26, she started off the morning in a $3,450 pajama-style Loro Piana silk jumpsuit. The one-piece, which featured contrast piping, was cinched at the waist with a dark belt and finished off with black patent pumps.

The ensemble looked quite comfortable as Melania joined Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's wife Akie Abe to visit the teamLab Borderless exhibit at a digital art museum in Odaiba Pallete Town.

At the museum, she signed autographs for students participating in a 'Be Best' event and even participated in some art making herself, drawing fish with the children.

Wives' club: The next day, May 27, she met with Japan's Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako (pictured right) at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo

Ladylike: She wore a $4,290 tea-length white embroidered frock from Carolina Herrera, which had pretty 3D flowers embroidered across the top and side

That night, she underwent a costume change before attending dinner with Prime Minister Abe and his wife at  Inakaya restaurant in the Roppongi district of Tokyo.

For the fun night out, which included taking in a sumo wrestling match, she wore a hot pink dress by Roland Mouret that cost $2,020. The body-hugging wool number featured an asymmetric neckline and hem.

The next morning, on May 27, Melania attended a welcome ceremony at the Imperial Palace, and kept things like in a white floral Carolina Herrera dress — which cost a whopping $4,290.

The summery embroidered dress was light and airy, and teamed with red suede pumps on her feet.

But she was in for another outfit change before the evening, swapping the daytime frock for eveningwear to attend a state banquet at the Imperial Palace with Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako.

For the fancy dinner, she wore a $4,490 pale pink gown by J. Mendel, which came fitted with a matching cape featuring a glitzy leaf print.

Finally, on their last day of the trip, Melania stood by her husband as he spoke to troops aboard the USS Wasp in Yokosuka.

The first lady appeared to be feeling sunny ahead of her departure, donning a $1,100 Dries Van Noten coat with a goldenrod-hued floral pattern and bright yellow stilettos. Underneath the coat was what appeared to be an ivory-colored sheath dress.

For Hollywood stars, models, and pop singers, a $20,000 wardrobe for a four-day trip is pretty normal — particularly because, if they're big enough stars, they don't actually have to buy the clothes.

But Melania's stylist Herve Pierre has insisted that the first lady doesn't borrow her outfits from designers and does splash out thousands of dollars on each piece — even when she only intends to wear it publicly one time.

Speaking to the New York Times in September of 2017, Pierre said he actually shops for Melania's clothes.

'I go to Bergdorf, I go to Saks, Michael Kors, Dior,' he told the newspaper. 'What is challenging is when I cannot say what it is for.'

And after she wore a $9,590 black beaded Michael Kors suit for her husband's first joint address to Congress that year, Kors confirmed in a statement that she did in fact purchase it.

This has been the norm for recent first ladies. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Michelle Obama's press secretary Joanna Rosholm said the former first lady didn't borrow clothing during the eight years her husband was president.

'Mrs. Obama pays for her clothing,' she said. 'For official events of public or historic significance, such as a state visit, the first lady's clothes may be given as a gift by a designer and accepted on behalf of the U.S. government. They are then stored by the National Archives.''

Laura Bush also paid for her clothes, and wrote in her memoir that she was "amazed by the sheer number of designer clothes I was expected to purchase.'
