Brad Pitt slips into double denim and gets behind the wheel of a classic convertible as he continues to film Once Upon A Time in Hollywood

It is the much-anticipated new project by director Quentin Tarantino, who has not released a film since 2015.

And leading man Brad Pitt certainly proved to be in good spirits on Tuesday, as he continued to film crime drama Once Upon A Time in Hollywood in Los Angeles.

The actor, 54, embodied the flick's 1969 setting in double denim as he happily waved to fans on the street, before shooting a number of scenes in a classic convertible.

Brad looked worlds away from his usual slick self in his vintage Wrangler denim jacket and jeans combo, paired with a traditional Western belt.

Sporting a blond wig, the actor looked worlds away from his usually clean-cut self - andindiscernible from a young Robert Redford - as he got behind the wheel on set.

Clearly no expense has been spared for the flick, as the classic car was specially kitted out for filming - with an elaborate camera rig enveloping the entire chassis.

Hundreds of passers-by crammed onto the sidewalks when they realised the dual heartthrobs were filming just feet away.

The screaming fans scrambled for a glimpse of the two Hollywood heavyweights, with almost every pair of hands filming or snapping on a cellphone.

The carefully set-up scene called for not just the cars they were driving to be of the period, but all the surrounding traffic as well.

Leo, 43, plays former Western star Rick Dalton in the much-anticipated flick, while Brad, 54, stars as his longtime stunt double, Cliff Booth.

In the film, the pair embark on an odyssey to make a name for themselves again in the film industry they no longer recognise in the Hollywood of 1969 - the year of the Charles Manson murders.
