Star Wars movie based on beloved Knights of the Old Republic Xbox video game is in the works
Disney and LucasFilm are developing a movie adaptation based on the beloved 2003 video game Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.
The film is being written by Altered Carbon creator Laeta Kalogridis, according to a new report from Buzzfeed.
LucasFilm president Kathleen Kennedy told MTV News at Star Wars Celebration that, 'we are developing something to look at,' but she added, 'Right now, I have no idea where things might fall.'

Kalogridis is reportedly close to finishing the first script for what would be a potential trilogy of Knights of the Old Republic movies.
The filmmaker will be the first female writer of a Star Wars movie in more than 40 years, since Leigh Brackett co-wrote The Empire Strikes Back with Lawrence Kasdan.
Kalogridis was reportedly hired to write a Knights of the Old Republic movie back in the spring of 2018.

Knights of the Old Republic takes place 4,000 years before the formation of the Galactic Republic in the Star Wars universe.
The game follows Darth Malak, a Sith Lord who has has unleashed his Sith armada against the Republic.
The player plays the game as a Jedi who must travel to different galaxies in an effort to defeat Malak.

The Jedi character eventually joins forces with one of the most revered female characters in the Star Wars, Balista Shan, another Jedi knight.
The game, which debuted on Xbox 360 in 2003, is still considered to be one of the best video games of all time.
The original game spawned the sequels Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II - The Sith Lords in 2004 and Star Wars: The Old Republic in 2011.
