Niki Lauda’s grieving widow places his F1 helmet on his coffin in funeral in Vienna as hundreds of mourners arrive to pay their respects after his death aged 70
Birgit Lauda and his two sons Mathias and Lucas (main) were pictured placing his trademark red crash helmet on top of his wooden coffin St. Stephen's Cathedral in his home city of Vienna. Hundreds of fans queued in the rain for hours outside the famous church before they were allowed in to file past his coffin. The triple world champion, best remembered for his comeback from a fiery crash in 1976 that left him badly burned and scarred him for life, died last week at the age of 70. Members of Lauda's family accompanied pallbearers carrying his remains into the gothic cathedral in the morning. His wife Birgit and two of his sons placed Lauda's red-and-white driver's helmet on the casket. Fans then came in and filed past the coffin that was placed on a platform in the centre of the cathedral. Bottom right: Lauda's coffin being brought into the church on Wednesday.
British woman who mowed down her ex's new girlfriend in Magaluf is handed two-year suspended sentence and banned from going within 1,600ft of her after leaving her needing leg surgery
Kemi Coaker, 30, from Manchester admitted running over Meghan Tattersall, 25, from Leeds, after a plea bargain deal at a court in Majorca on Tuesday (pictured: Coaker, left; Meghan Tattersall, right; Andrew Coaker, inset bottom; and the Magaluf street, inset top). Kemi was arrested in May last year on suspicion of trying to kill Meghan in a hate-fuelled hit-and-run after the younger woman started dating her ex Andrew Coaker, 41, from Reading. She was held half an hour after the May 8, 2018 incident in the nearby resort of Cala Vinyes. The victim's injuries were initially described as serious and she took three weeks to recover from leg wounds which required surgery. As well as receiving a two-year suspended jail sentence for a crime of wounding with a dangerous weapon, Coaker was also handed a three-year restraining order which prevents her from going within 1,600 ft of her victim.
Kit Harington is in REHAB: Exhausted British actor, 32, 'checked into a luxury wellness retreat in Connecticut to be treated for stress and alcohol ahead of the Game of Thrones finale'
Kit Harington has checked into a luxury rehab facility in the US as he battles alcohol and stress-related issues. The Game of Thrones star was admitted as the last season of Game of Thrones was airing. The 32-year-old arrived at the luxury Privé-Swiss health retreat in Connecticut a month ago, sources say, ahead of the final episode of the hit series on May 19. Harington, who starred as Jon Snow on the show for eight years, admitted to breaking down in tears during the table read for the final season, as well as when he wrapped shooting for the last time. Behind-the-scenes footage (main) showed Harington tearing up when he learned that his character would kill his on-screen love Daenerys Targaryen, played by Emilia Clarke (both pictured in the show, right). 'My heart is breaking. I love this show more than anything. It has never been a job for me, it's my life,' he said in the HBO documentary. Harington's wife and former GoT co-star, Rose Leslie (left, with Harington), is said to be supporting the 'exhausted' actor, who is believed to be undergoing cognitive behavioural therapy and practising mindfulness.
Sherpas haul FROZEN SOLID corpse from Mount Everest after 11 deaths in 13 days amid queuing chaos as Nepal says it won’t cap permits
Four Sherpas are seen heaving a rigid corpse over the ice, its arm sticks into the air and its knees slide along the ground unnaturally in the footage filmed last week on Mount Everest (pictured: Sherpas use rope tied to the frozen body to drag it over the ice, left and right; and long queues up to the summit, inset). The staggering death toll so far this season has been shrouded in controversy but government officials said on Wednesday they had no plans to cap permits despite lethal traffic jams in freezing winds and thin air. The video uploaded by Rohtash Khileri last Tuesday said: 'Sherpas are the form of a God in the mountains. We should respect them. And should also respect the mountains.'
